Prologue

Joseph's POV

Everything went pitch black. I couldn't feel or see a thing. "W- What the? Where the hell am I? What is this place?" I asked as the sounds of my echoes was heard around the darkness of the room. I didn't know what to expect. That's when a bright light began to form within the darkness. It, began to talk to me. "Joseph," the light said, saying my name. "What the-," I said, without even finishing my sentence. "You've been chosen to become my holder. And as I see it, you need my help. To get you out of this coma. Out of this nightmare that will lead you nowhere," the light continued. "Chosen? What do you-" I said. "I can help you. You just have to trust me," the light said. I stood there, not saying a word. "Alright. But answer me this. What should I call you?," I said. The light started taking form. The figure looked like a small red and black dragon of some sort. "My name is Scales. I look forward working with you, Joseph Torres," said the creature.

Flashback to a few hours earlier

I opened my locker, grabbing everything that I needed for class. I sighed to myself. "If only the weekend could come any sooner," I said to myself silently, putting on my jacket and closing my locker. "EEY Joseph!!" said Eruin, a good friend of mine. "Ah, hola Eruin, ¿como estas?" I asked. "Estoy bien. Yo solo estaba esperando por la campana. Espera, que clase tienes hora?" He asks me. "Um, tengo mathematica," I said. "En serio hermano. Diablo, me siento mal por tí," he said. "Eh, no es tan mal," I said. "Eh, bueno. Esos verdad," he said. "Mira, me tengo que ir. Nos vemos despues de la escuela. Espera, ¿vas a ir al Teen Center?" I asked. "Si, Yo me voy," he said. "Ok. Bueno te veo despues de la escuela," I said, fist pumping him and going to my class.

The classes I've had at this time went by quite fast. At this point, I'm just glad lunch had just started. So I headed over towards the cafeteria and noticed Annaliz with Alexia. I usually saw them with Jose, but seeing that was after he left to New York, it isn't all that surprising. I smiled and caught up with them. "Hey Anna," I said, putting my arm around Annaliz. She smiled. "Hey," she said, putting herself closer towards me. "Ugh, PDA!" Said Alexia. "Hey, weren't you the one shipping us," I said. "Yeah, you even posted a picture of us from the dance, with a heart around us, literally saying my ship, on SnapChat," said Annaliz. "Yeah, but now you're making me feel left out," she said, overexaggerating. I patted her shoulder. "There, there. You'll hopefully find the one some day. And hey, he might be a 'bad boy' with some luscious red hair," I said, letting out a slight chuckle. "HEY!" She yelled. "What, it's true. I mean you're into that, aren't you," I said. She fluttered in embarrassment. "I hate you," she said. "The feeling is mutual," I said, showing a slight smile. "Alright you two, let's get in the line before it gets any longer," said Annaliz. "Right. You lead the way," I said, heading into the cafeteria with the two of them.

After the final bell rang and it was about time for us to go to the Teen Center. We decided to walk there since it wasn't that far away. Probably like a 30 minutes or so. But that was soon gonna change my life forever.

"Hey guys!! Wait up!!" Yelled Eric coming from behind us. "Wassup Eric," I said. "Dude, sorry I'm late, I got caught up on something," he said. "No problem. We were actually waiting for you, my friend," I said. We continued walking until we came across an old short cut, which headed to a small area covered with trees and a dirt road. "Hey guys, why don't we head in there," said Eruin, pointing at a sidewalk heading towards a area filled with large trees. "Dude, last time we there, we all got in trouble," I said. "Oh come on, no one will see us," said Eruin. I sighed. "Alright let's go," I said. Eruin went first. Then it was Eric and then was Annaliz. Now it was my turn. I started taking a couple of steps when I turn to my right to see someone driving in my direction. The car started speeding up and I stood there frozen. My heart started quickly and then..........Crash!

The last thing I saw, was my friends on the other side of the crosswalk with their eyes widen as I felt my body hitting the floor. I could hear Annaliz screaming my name. And that's when everything went black.
