She Knows

Laurie's POV

I was just walking into my house on my way home from work when my phone started ringing. I was getting a call from Erika. I got a little worried because I sent her a text wondering how Tessa was doing and instead of texting me back she called me. I pick up the phone and answer.

Laurie: "Hey Erika! What's Up? How's Tessa?"

Erika: "That's actually why I am calling you... Last night Tessa tried to kill herself..."

Laurie: "WHAT? Did you say that Tessa tried to kill herself?" My eyes started to tear up

Erika: "Yes... but we got to her before she could and she is alright"

Laurie: "What could possibly make her so upset that she would try to do that?"

Erika: "I think the hate just kept getting worse and she couldn't handle it anymore. She went to see a movie with Anthony and someone at the theater said something hateful and it kinda pushed her over the edge"

Laurie: "Well, what did she try to do?"

Erika: "Apparently she had been cutting herself for a little while but she tried to overdose last night"

Laurie: "Did you stop her?"

Erika: "I tried but I couldn't get in her room so Jake broke the door and hit the pills out of her hand"

Laurie: "Do you think I should come down there? Will she want to see me?"

Erika: "Tessa told me not to tell you so maybe wait a few days or call her and ask her how she has been. It's fine if she finds out you know because there was no way I could keep this away from you."

Laurie: "Oh Okay. I will call her later. What is she doing right now?"

Erika: " I think she is up in her room with Jake. We really aren't leaving her alone right now because we don't want anything to happen to her"

Laurie: "Okay, I will call her later."

Erika: "That's a good idea"

Laurie: "Erika, thanks a lot. We are really lucky to have you there looking after her"

Erika: "Aw it's no problem. I care about her so much. We all do."

I got off the phone with Erika and my husband (Tessa's Step Dad), Scott, walked into the house. I was crying. He sat next to me and I told him what Erika said. He gave me a tight hug.
