Chapter 15 - Abduction

"SETH" I called out again. I knew he could hear me if not for the others.
A trail of  dark blood  followed us  as I carried Mrs Martinez .

Seth met me in the midway and he gasped when he caught sight of the stock-still women in my arms.

"What the-" he started but I cut him off.
"Take her to the hospital " I said as he picked her from my arms and sprinted to my car.

A tumult broke out as soon as we proceeded towards our driveway .
"Mom" I heard Nick yell .
I whizzed past the others to retrieve my car keys that I had tossed beside a pile of Christmas presents.

"What's happening Leah ?" Jeff  questioned stepping inside. Behind him I noticed Tommy and Chloe follow him.
"Take these ." I said handing Jeff the keys ."Drive fast .She has  lost too much of blood already ." I pleaded.
Looking mystified, he turned and hurried past the rest .

I watched Seth lower Mrs Martinez in the back seat and he rested her head on his lap. He had his shirt pressed tightly against her wounds .

Her heart was beating in a faint but steady rhythm and I knew she would be out of the fatal state soon.

Jeff and Alan sat at the front and within a few seconds, the car was speeding .

"We have to inform Cassy .Does she know about it ?" Chloe said whimpering.
"I don't know." My gaze were fixed on Nick who was traumatized after seeing his mother.

Nicole and Hartlyn sat beside him giving a few words of comfort , repeating once and once again that his mom would be alright .

I was transfixed by the incident. Years of experience as a werewolf held me in place without losing my nerve.
Death wasn't something I wasn't unprepared for but the scene had given me a rude awakening.

It had been years since I had gotten myself in a fight and bloodshed . Witnessing so much of blood oozing out from her body  brought back the memories.

"I called the police ." Tommy announced .
I recalled Mrs Martinez mentioning her daughter  when I had reached her .
They took my daughter ...they took June.
Wasn't those her exact words??
"Guys " I spoke in a faint tone immediately getting Tommy and Chloe's attention .
"I think ...someone might have abducted her daughter -June."

It was a quarter past ten , the whole neighborhood was in a state of  trepidation . Several police cruisers were parked in front of our home.

Mr Martinez was yelling on top of his voice . He had been threatened that his child would be imperiled if the $1-million demand was not met .

Everyone who had been present at the scene were questioned including myself and though an hour had passed since the child's absence, the police hadn't made any progress .

I could help them find the child and bring her back home unscathed but it was at the cost of exposing myself and unfortunately I was bound by our injunction.

I glanced at the Martinez' home which was abandoned at the moment with the door unlocked. This would be my chance .It was time I put my foot forward since the humans weren't making any progress .

I could ask Seth if he would accompany me but the task at hand wasn't that big a deal for me .

With everyone 's thoughts focused on planning to reclaim the child, I was pretty sure they wouldn't catch me sneaking into the Martinez' home.

I scrutinized the living room looking high and low for anything that would give me her scent .Finally I pushed open a door that I guessed must be the little girls' and it was.
