For once I wasn't enjoying the comfy feeling of the bed beneath me nor the warmth of the covers that had been pulled over me.
I shut my eyes and forced myself to sleep but even for the thousandth try in the past few hours, my endeavour was going in vain. A stressed ambience seemed to have doomed over my existence.
It has been more than eight years since I set my foot in Carson city. Eight years and still I hadn't aged a single day . Of course I wasn't planning on taking up the residence on this goddamn world for eternity which I could but I wasn't sure if the world would last that long though .
Unlike the vampires whose choice had been seized from them, I had one to turn back to my human self but I couldn't see that one coming until atleast a century later and it wasn't like I could stay here with my neighbours and friends that long without growing older.
For now I was put out in perpetuity and that meant moving out , start all over again as a fresher in a different town with a different name and a cooked up family background.
All these unforseen thoughts had been dormant at the back of my head until Chloe's encounter which brought up the topic abruptly .
It was a while ago when she questioned me exactly on what I thought shouldn't have been asked .
Someone had finally gotten suspicious of my being -well not exactly ,but that seemed like a promising start in getting to know my secret. If it had not been for Jeff who had come to my rescue that minute when I stood dumbstruck in the kitchen facing Chloe trying to open my mouth and give a sensible reply, I'm not sure what would have followed that I would have regretted saving June.
Not sure about the last part though...couldn't have regretted finding that little naive girl. No. Definitely no.
And so he had pulled Chloe out of the Martinez home saying she was tired and she needed rest and both disappeared in their car but not before Chloe threw me a meaningful look that seemed to hold a promise.A promise that told she was not leaving me without getting a reply .
How very nice I felt at the moment .Urgh...
She was not don't with me. Not one bit .
And so I was left fretting about my next meeting with her which I'm sure was another step for her to know that she had no clue about me all along on what I was .
Did this mean that I had no other option but to leave the city ?
There were two reasons as to why I couldn't just tell her what I was ...
Firstly , I was bound by our injunction. The law which denied me the right to let any human know of our existence .No one was above that law ,not even the alpha.Secondly, I don't think I had it in me to see how she shrank away from me, with repugnance or horror I wouldn't know but I wasn't taking the chances to hurt myself again.

"Are you alright?" Someone whispered touching my shoulders. I blinked and focused my gaze on Hartlyn who was hovering above me.
I guessed it must have been she- would had been rattling me for a while to get her attention.
"Hmm?" I asked dazedly shaking my head to and fro to clear muddled thoughts .
"You seem off. What's the matter ?" She asked nudging me .
I shrugged.
She continued to give me a look.
"Am I alluring? Is that the reason for you to make sheep's eyes at me?" I teased.
"Shut up." She snapped and returned back to her work .
Thank the lord!
