Julian

"I swear man, I was so fucking nervous!" I exclaim covering my forehead with my bangs or the thin locks of hair I have in the front part of my head which wouldn't deserve the privilege of being called bangs or even have a term to describe them.

"But... I don't get it, you've already nailed her before..." Albert questioned, his eyebrows furrowed together and his hands trying to dig into his newly short hair, forgetting his afro is long gone.

"Yeah, well. Not this time" I say staring at his weird forehead. "You know, your new hairstyle really sucks, you're very bald"

"What did you expect? Have you seen the big Hammond?" He says amused. "His forehead is reaching his nape"

"That sucks for you" I laugh. "At least you have a cool dad... anyways.. you should grow your hair back" I state.

"Hey Julian" a girl appears out of nowhere right next to the table we're sitting on. She's holding a cup of coffee with the name Anna written on it. She looks familiar.

"Hey Anna" I greet her making a gesture with my hand. She looks at me surprised and I point at the cup on her hand.

"Oh.." she nervously laughs "Yeah, they finally got it right, yesterday I was Sarah. Not even close"

"Yeah people don't listen" Albert jumps in probably mocking me. The girl stares at him and turns back to me.

"Is that Albert?" she asks. "What happened?" I burst out laughing.

"C'mon, I'm right the fuck here"

"Sorry.." Anna says. "You look more mature"
An uncomfortable short silence makes prominence. Short but long to be silence. I actually enjoy the silences but as people get uncomfortable around them I get uncomfortable as well.

"So.. I was wondering if I could take a photo with you" she asks only me. All the band used to give me shit about that but they finally got that I'm just the sexier, what can I do? Just kidding, sorry.

"Sure" I say leaning towards her as she already has her arm stretched out with the camera opened. She takes the picture and thanks me. "That's a cool shirt you got there" I compliment pointing at the T-shirt she's wearing. It's black with Martin Luther King quotes written all over it. She looks down and then up enthusiastically.

"Oh yeah! You have the same one"

"Do I?" I ask confused looking at Albert who rolls his eyes.

"You need to start drinking coffee, man" he breathes out. Which made Anna laugh. She wasn't leaving.

"Um.." I say turning to her. "We gotta go but I'm playing a secret show in a few weeks with The Voidz, you wanna come?" I suggest standing up as my hand reaches inside one of the back pockets of my jeans. A huge smile draws on her face making her cheeks turn pink.

"You serious?" she asks as I put two bracelets on the palm of her hand.

"You can come with a friend, but remember.." I stoop down a little "it's secret" I whisper into her ear.

Albert and I leave and hop into my car. He turns on the radio and Roxanne by The Police starts playing.

"OH YEAH! I love this reggaeish version!" I cheer. When I speak or sing loudly I can feel my voice strings breaking sometimes, it's freaky.
