As Thomas turned off his car he pulled his hood over his head, it had started raining nearly ten minutes prior. Before jumping out of the car he stuffed his books under his arm. Then without a second thought he jumped from the car and jogged to the front doors of the large building. Walking in, he saw Anne standing at the front desk, shivering. Evidently she got caught in the rain with out a coat on. Her black top stuck tightly to her skin, making her look like a wet dog.
"Hi-i-i." She said trying to hide her chattering teeth. Without a second thought Thomas put his books down and removed his hoodie handing it to her. She looked taken back, but quickly got over it, taking the large sweater slipping it over her drenched head. "T-thank you, T-thomas."
"No problem, Anne." He smiled genuinely. Thomas enjoyed the sight of her clothes clinging to her but he wouldn't be much of a gentleman if he let her stand there and freeze for his benefit. "So have you thought how we can start this search?"
"Yeah, I brought some papers my mom worked on a few years ago. She started tracing our lineage but she always got easily distracted so quickly gave up. So I figured that was a starting point." She answered as she passed him a small pile of papers.
"Have you ever thought of using those lineage websites?" Thomas asked as the walked back to the tables near a row of computers. Anne looked at him questioningly.
"Yeah, but they cost money. Unfortunately I don't have much of." Anne didn't tell many people about her finacial position, she in fact was only able to attend this school because of a full scholarship she received.
"Hmm. If you want I can pay for it." Thomas offered politely hoping he hadn't offended her.
"I can't ask you do that, Thomas."
"You didn't ask, I offered." With that Thomas pulled out an extra chair bringing it closer to the one he was sitting at in front of a computer. After logging on he quickly pulled up a lineage web site, where he quickly typed in his credit card information. "Alright, now we just have to add in your family names to a certain point and we'll see how far it goes back. We may have to do more digging when we get to a certain point." Anne nodded as she began reading off her parents names and her grandparents names.
As they followed Anne's blood line back slowly, Thomas began noticing names of people he knew once upon a time. Finally after two hours of researching they found what they were looking for. Anne in fact was relation to Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard. Thomas slowly ran his pale finger across the screen pointing to two names she would know. Anne gasped suddenly as her eyes grazed over the screen.
"I'm related to them!" She said excited. Thomas couldn't help himself, he was happy for her.
"More than you knew evidently." Thomas continued to read over the screen. "It appears your direct line was in fact Henry's child with Catherine." Thomas paused at the sight, he knew of this child since he was often close to Henry's side. But other than a choice few, most of the kingdom was told the child died at birth.
"Really? I thought they didn't have any children." She asked as she stared at the screen in amazement. Thomas began racking his brain, how was he going to explain it without telling her about himself.
"Umm. I'm just guessing because.." He pointed to the screen, " this line goes directly to Catherine."
"Oh? What did she look like? Can we find a portrait of her?" Thomas nodded as he pulled up another website typing in her name. Seconds later a picture popped up, he looked over and nearly laughed. The portrait didn't capture her true likeness, back then the artists usually only looked at the person for a few minutes so the end product was often very far off from the real person.
