Chapter 13: Vacation Goodbyes
The few days I got to spend at our house in Michigan was amazing. It made me wish we were staying longer, which was weird considering I didn't want to go in the first place. It was a beautiful day and the weather was nice. The sky was blue, and it was in the high 60s. It was the perfect day to spend outside, but Taylor and I were going to be on an airplane. I was standing out on the balcony admiring the day. Taylor was putting our bags in the car and Abby and my mom were waiting downstairs with our bodyguards. This balcony will forever remind me of my promise ring and that incredible birthday party. That was probably part of Taylor's plan in the first place.
He quietly came up behind me and wrapped his arm around my waist. I gasped, but quickly relaxed when I realized it was him. "You scared me," I told him.
"I'm sorry," he whispered in my ear, "what are you thinking about?"
"What do you think I'm thinking about?" I answered.
He chuckled, "it wasn't an average night."
"Average always has something to do with it doesn't it?"
"That's how we met," he said, "you've always thought you were average, and I will forever be trying to prove you wrong."
"Not so average promise of an average girl."
He kissed my cheek, "but you're not average."
"I'm starting to finally feel like that."
"Ready to go?"
"Yeah," I sighed, "sadly."
"I know," he said, "it's beautiful here."
"I like our little vacation home," I told him.
"I do too. We'll have to come here more often."
I turned around and hugged him and we looked out at the scenery one more time before walking downstairs to say our goodbyes. I hugged my mom and wished her luck. She told me just the day before how she took my advice about moving out. She found an apartment in the city where she works and she's finally starting to feel better. She's even been taking exercise classes and hanging out with friends to keep her mind off of my dad. I hugged Abby last and she told me to call her and keep her updated on everything that's happening in my life. The birthday present that she gave me turned out to be a collage of pictures of us, which I promised to put in my house in California.
"I'll call you as often as I can," I told her.
"Promise?" she asked.
"Yes," I smiled, "I promise."
"Good." Our bodyguards helped us into the car and started pulling out the driveway to the airport. I looked out the window and saw Abby and my mom waving from our porch. I waved back, not even sure if they could see me. The goodbyes were over and we weren't on vacation anymore.
"What plans do we have," I asked Taylor, "when we get back to California?"
"I have to film my movie and you are doing a bunch of sessions in the studio to continue recording for your album."
"Busy busy busy."
"It's our new life," he said, "it's always going to be busy."
"I wouldn't take it back though," I said, "this life is a hundred times more exciting than the life I lived in Michigan."
"You never expected to be a model and singer though did you?" he asked.
"Definitely not," I laughed, "I wanted to travel the world and be a photographer remember?"
"Yeah I remember," he laughed too, "do you still update your blog?"
"Occassionally," I said, "I still carry my camera with me everywhere, but the pictures usually stay on my computer. I should definitely update it though. I probably should even more now than I did before."
"I'm sure your new fans would love to see what you are doing now. Even more if they get to hear it from you and not rumors they read in magazines."
"I'll have to do that as soon as we get home. I've taken some great pictures of the band at the studio and me at the modeling sessions."
I laid my head on his shoulder and he responded, "I'll remind you."
"Thank you."
When I woke up we were at the airport and had to rush through the large crowds of people and cameras pointed at us. The flight was long and exhausting and there were just as many cameras at that airport than the last one. Taylor held me tight and our bodyguards kept them as far away from us as they could.
We walked into our house early in the afternoon and the first thing I wanted to do was take a nap. Taylor took our bags and set them on the table. He held my hand and we both went to the bedroom to take a nap.
"TAYLOR!"
He snapped out of his sleep and fell onto the floor causing me laugh hysterically. "Was that really necessary?" I just smirked at him and nodded my head, trying to hold in my laughter. He tried to stand up, but just ended up tripping over the blankets which were now on the floor. I couldn't hold in my laughter anymore. I covered my mouth with my hand as I laughed.
"You think this is real funny don't you?" When I nodded, he added, "not for long."
"Tayl-" He ran after me and picked me up off the ground, causing me to squeal in the process. He set me down just to pick up a second time, this time bridal style, and carry me through the house.
"Where are we going?" I laughed, holding him around the neck. Instead of answering he kissed me to shut me up. Not that I objected, but he was clearly trying to get back at me for waking him up like that. He smiled between kisses, letting me know that something was about to happen.
The second we broke from the kiss I realized where we were...by the pool. He tried to throw me in, I never let go of my arms that we around his neck. I pulled just enough for him to come falling down into the pool with me. I was the first one to come up from the water and I waited to see what Taylor's response was going to be.
His head peaked up on the water and he splashed me. I splashed back and he called a truce. "I should have thought that through," he said as we got out of the pool, "you should have let go of me."
"Why would I do that?" I laughed, "then you wouldn't have fallen in with me."
"Very funny," he said, "you should be a comedian."
"I should," I agreed sarcastically, "I'm sure I'd make millions."
"Yeah yeah, time to get ready."
"I get shower first!" I yelled running up the stairs. He ran after me and caught me as I was closing the door.
"You don't get away with it that easy," he smiled.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I smiled back. He came into the bathroom and kissed me, closing the door behind him.
