Note: this going to be kind of a short chapter, sorry. I have a really big paper to write this weekend so I won't really have a lot of time to write. Anyway, here is chapter 20!! Enjoy! :)
Chapter 20: Date Night
The first thing I heard as I walked out into the main room was “Wow.” I’ve left Taylor speechless. All I could think was who would have thought that would ever happen?
“Like it?” I asked him.
“You look gorgeous,” he smiled, “absolutely gorgeous.”
“Thank you. You did say you wanted me to dress up for this date.”
“And I’m glad I did.”
“Whatever,” I giggled, “are we going to go now?”
“Yes. Let’s go.”
“Where are we going anyway?” I asked as he opened the car door for me.
“Surprise.”
“Still?”
“Yes,” he chuckled, “Still.”
He walked around the car and got into the driver’s side. A couple minutes into the drive I realized I wasn’t going to be able to figure this one out. This wasn’t a place I’ve ever been to before.
“Can’t you give me a hint?” I begged.
“Not a chance.”
“I’ve never been here before have I?”
“No,” he replied, “You haven’t.”
“Hmmm….”
“You’re not going to think of it,” he laughed, “just go with it.”
“Fine.”
He continued driving for what seemed like forever. I was relieved when the vehicle finally came to a stop, but I didn’t say anything. I was still trying to figure out what Taylor was planning. He opened the door for me and held my hand as he led me towards our date. When the door to the building was opened, I was looking at the nicest, fanciest restaurant I have ever seen. I couldn’t contain the surprise I was feeling. The waiter led us to a table in the corner of the restaurant where no one else was which was obviously Taylor’s idea. I waited until the waiter took our drink order and left before I finally said something.
“This is the nicest restaurant I have ever seen in my life.”
“I wanted to have a date that was different than the rest,” he explained, “the other dates that we went on were just casual type dates. I wanted to finally take you to a really nice place.”
“Which is why you bought me the flowers this morning as a clue?” I asked.
“Guilty,” he smiled, “I was hoping it would be some kind of clue.”
“When I got the flowers, I was confused at first,” I laughed, “but it was different. The only other time you bought me flowers was for my performance.”
“If you like this, wait ‘til you see the rest of the date.”
“Wait, what?” I said.
“Yup,” he said, “there’s more coming.”
“Like what?” I asked.
“You’re just going to have to see.”
The waiter came and took our food orders before leaving again. We sat in the circular booth and Taylor held my hand underneath the table. We talked about everything except our careers. Neither one of us wanted to talk about work while we were on our date. The food was delicious and Taylor even let us split dessert. I was completely full by the time we left the restaurant.
The next stop on our date was our house. When I tried to ask Taylor about it, he just shushed me. We walked through the house to the highest floor, into the attic, then through the attic door and onto the roof. I looked at him funny, hoping he would give me a clue but still no such luck. He laid a blanket down onto the roof and we both laid down on it.
“What are we doing?” I finally asked.
“Just enjoy the stars.”
“But-“
“Lil, you’ll see. You’re going to love it.”
I took Taylor’s word for it and I sat up, looking out onto the water. He sat up moments after I did and put his arm around my waist. I laid my head on his shoulder and enjoyed the night. It was a nice cool night outside. It made me realize how cold it was really getting outside. I tried to warm myself up by crossing my arms, but it didn’t help. I was ready to go back inside to get a jacket when Taylor put his jacket around me.
“You don’t have to.”
“Yes I do,” he said, “you’re cold.’
“Yeah, a little,” I admitted.
“You know you like wearing it anyway.”
I smiled and leaned against him, not saying another word. The sky filled with colors five minutes later. I jumped in surprise, which made Taylor laugh.
“Fireworks?” I said, “How’d you manage that?”
He chuckled, “I have connections.”
“Yeah yeah.”
I put his jacket completely on me, putting my arms in the sleeves before wrapping my arms around Taylor and hugging him. The fireworks lasted for 15 minutes and it was the best firework show I had ever seen. The finale lasted at least five minutes and I was smiling and having a great time throughout the entire thing. Taylor really did put a lot of thought into this. More than I ever expected. We stayed on the roof a while longer after the fireworks ended.
“Want to go in yet?” he softly whispered in my ear.
“No. I like it out here.”
“I like it too,” he replied, “it’s peaceful. Just the sounds of the city.”
“Mm-hmm,” I nodded.
When I woke up, I was laying back in my bed. I sat up and looked around. It was past midnight and Taylor was sleeping next to me. I fell asleep again. I always do that to him. I got up and changed into a tank top and shorts before lying back down in bed. I leaned my head on his shoulder and fell back asleep.
THE END CHAPTER 20!!
