Chapter 23: Anti-bullying Photo Shoot
“I’m so excited!” I exclaimed as Taylor handed me my morning coffee.
“Remember to send me pictures,” he said, “I need a new background on my phone and computer anyway.”
“Funny,” I said sarcastically, “you know I don’t go anywhere without my camera anyway.”
“Okay,” he smiled, “let’s go. I’ll drop you off on my way to set.”
“Deal,” I smiled back.
I was excited and anxious at the same time as I walked in for the photo shoot. Abby wasn’t anywhere in sight at a first glance. I haven’t seen or spoken to her since the day I said we weren’t friends anymore. I didn’t even see her leave for this interview. Demi soon interrupted my thoughts when she started screaming my name.
“Lily!”
“Demi!” I ran over and hugged her, “Ready?”
“Are you kidding?” she smiled, “this is going to be the most fun photo shoot I’ve ever been in.”
“Same here, let’s get this started.”
They sent Demi and I back to get our outfits, which were both completely fitting to who we both were. The outfits were also going to look amazing together for the photo shoot. When Demi and I came out to start shooting, I spotted Abby. The editor noticed that I saw her and quickly hurried us to the backdrop to start shooting. I look over at Olivia who just smiled at me. I knew what she was thinking: I can’t let it bother me. She can’t know it’s bothering me. So I didn’t. I smiled and completely forgot she was in the room. Demi and I had a blast. They gave us all kinds of props to mess around with and we had a great time. The pictures were going to be so goofy in the magazine. We were laughing so hard at one point that we had the entire crew laughing.
“Okay!” the editor finally yelled, “We have enough pictures, onto the interview!”
Demi and I changed back into the clothes we came in and the interviewer led us into a different room where we could all sit down and talk.
“Okay,” the interviewer started, “Before we start I want to introduce you to our new reporter Abby. I’m just showing her some things to get her started.”
“What’s the first question?” I asked, quickly trying to change the subject. I didn’t even look at Abby to see what her expression was. Now that Olivia wasn’t in the room, I didn’t have anybody to remind me not to let it show that she was bothering me.
“I guess we’ll get started,” the interviewer said, “so how do you both feel about the topic of bullying?”
“I think everyone has been bullied at some point in their lives,” Demi started, “But I think it’s important that people feel beautiful. There are too many bullies out there who are purposely bringing other people down for no reason. There needs to be role models out there who will make those victims feel good about themselves again.”
“I agree with Demi,” I started answering, “The rest of the Rosebuds and I feel really strongly about bullying which is why we chose Bully Aid as our second single. It’s this song all about standing up, not just for yourself, but for others when you see them being bullied.”
