"Can you believe it?" Gordie asked you, "We only have a month of summer left."
"Counting the days of freedom, I suppose?" You smiled to yourself.
We were silently walking, making small talk every few minutes.
Something seemed funny, you just didn't know what it could be.
Gordie has been like this for a while now. All the time, he'd blush if you would comment about him, or his writing."Yeah, and I'm counting the days that I'll have with you."
That stops you. "What do you mean?" You press, wanting to know what had been going on.
Gordie turns to you. "In September, we won't be in the same class as you. Me, Chris, Teddy, and Vern will all be together in a big classroom learning how to make ashtrays and birdhouses out of clay!"
He looks down at the log he'd been balancing on, and steps off. The slight sound of water from a rippling stream echoes through the woods as he glances towards you, his brown bangs covering his angered eyes.
"Gordie, even if we aren't in the same classes together, that isn't going to change anything about our relationship. I love you too much to let this go."
Immediately, you clap my hand over your mouth. Great, now look what you've done. Heat seems to rise from your cheeks as Gordie smirks at you, staring you down with his brown eyes.
"I love you too much to let you go too, (Y/N)."
And with that, he leans in, and softly kisses you against a tree, the both of you holding hands.
A bird chatters in the distance, ending the kiss. You both smile, goofy, and big grins on your faces.
"Shall we go?" He asked.
"Yeah, we should."
He takes your hand, and slowly, you both walk into the woods, unaware of what might happen.
But that's life right?
