Ever since the two of you were little, you would always play a game of war: basically spraying each other with water guns as much as you can without getting yourself soaked.

It was a hot summer, and you had nothing to do. Just read and sleep, and just look out the window is all you could think of doing, until your phone rang from downstairs.

Taking the steps down two at a time, you hurry to answer the phone. "Hello?" You answer in a breathless reply.

"Hey, hey, hey (Y/N)! Wanna have our annual war?"

Immediately, you recognize the voice: Teddy, smiling at the thought of it, and almost scream out the answer: "Yes!"

"Okay, meet me at-"

"The fishing hole, I know."

For over ten years, you both made a secret hideout that you would call the fishing hole, because it was also where Teddy would fish with his dad when he was a baby. It was space just the two of you knew about.

"That's the (Y/N) I know! I'll see you there."

"Not if I see you first."

You run up the stairs and get your water gun, that was stashed away in the closet, and bound out the door to the fishing hole.

You spot Teddy there, and you wave, noticing the smile spread across his face.

Oh, Teddy....

It's been questioned whether or not you liked him. You just wanted him to be your friend.

At least for now...

You both started the game, filling your guns with water from the river, and went in opposite directions.

Trying to hide the excitement inside of you, you look around to notice if Teddy is there, but he is nowhere to be found.

Teddy, as you should know, is very skilled at this game.

Your heart starts beating really quickly as you hide behind another tree.

"Found you!"

Teddy comes from above and from a tree, crashing down and spraying you with water as you scream and laugh and spray him back.

He chuckles and says, "I win again."

You throw your head back laughing as he helps you up.

It has been a tradition, that each year, after the game, you both meet at the fishing hole again, and shake hands as a peace offering.

You and Teddy walk back slowly, listening to the birds chirping and the occasional bug buzzing around your ear.

When you arrive to the fishing hole, you smile and extend your hand out for a peace offering.

But this time, Teddy does something different.

Teddy takes your hand and pulls you closer to his chest, and kisses you softly on the lips.

The kiss seems to last forever as your cheeks begin to heat up, despite the cool metal from Teddy's glasses.

When you pull apart, Teddy smirks and says "Thought that we might want to do something different this year..."

"It was perfect."

"Just like you," counters Teddy.

You hold hands with Teddy and go back to gaze out on the Royal River, enjoying every minute of the now perfect summer vacation.
