The treehouse was humid, and full of hot air when you and Gordie entered inside.

"So Gordo, what story did you write today?"

It has been a routine in which Gordie writes you a story, and in return, you give him feedback.

He opens up the backpack he brought with him, and hands the story to you, slightly wrinkled from travel, but written neatly.

"I hope it's okay, you know I try my best all the time..."

You smile. "I'm sure you'll be a fucking prodigy, Lachance. Just you wait."

He chuckles, and lights up a cigarette, blowing out the smoke as you start to read his story.

But unlike his other stories, this story seemed real. Almost too real. It was about an overweight boy, nicknamed "Lard Ass," and was made fun of all the time. In revenge to his bullies, he enters a pie eating contest, and makes everyone barf all over each other in the end.

You end up laughing hysterically, while Gordie smiles like a little kid.

"Jesus Christ, Lachance, I almost peed myself."

When you both calm down, he asks you how the story was. "Fantastic," You say, "It's really good."

You hand the story back to him and he sits in silence, fumbling with his hands.

"You okay, Gordo?"

"Yeah, it's just...what would you say if I told you that I liked you? Like, as more than a friend?"

He waits in anticipation, and you smile.

"I'd say that you're a lucky man, Lachance."

"I know I am."

He kisses you on the cheek, making your eyes widen, and you letting out a soft laugh. You start to blush crazily as he chuckles with amusement.

The moment was broken with a single sentence: "GET SOME, LACHANCE!"

You both look down from the treehouse to see Teddy howling with laughter on the ground, Chris clapping his hands and cheering sarcastically, and Vern holding his hands over his mouth to keep himself from laughing.

"Oh, piss up a rope, you guys!" Gordie whines in annoyance. You stifle a laugh as well, and put an arm around him, knowing that some things never change.
