It's bullshit. Maybe he didn't do it in the first place. You love him!
Climbing up the ladder of the treehouse, you silently debate with yourself whether or not you should tell the boys what had happened just minutes ago.
Do it, they'll understand.
Knocking the secret knock, you hear a distant "come in!" and open the hatch. Teddy helps you up as you take your usual spot between Chris and Gordie.
"So, tell us about your 'lover boy!'" Teddy exclaimed. They had made a nickname for him, but you kind of knew that it wouldn't last long.
"I was going to see him again, but he was making out with that Connie Smith girl..."
The boys all looked at you. Gordie turned off the radio, and soon, there was dead silence.
"But it's okay, really!" You say, trying to be strong about it, "I never even liked him that much in the first place!"
You could feel your cheeks heating up. Chris looked at you with sincerity and with some sort of confusion on his face.
"...Damn (Y/N), that sucks. I wish I could, or at least we could do something about it. You were really nice with him..." said Vern.
You smile at him and look down at the wooden floor of the treehouse. Your sneakers are totally busted, and you start to feel self conscious about yourself.
"Anyways...did you hear about Annie Palermo? I heard that she got busted after sucking face with Rich Cardigan..."
Just as Teddy tried to continue, you stand up, saying, "I have to go. I'll see you guys later."
The boys look at each other as you go down the ladder and run as fast as you can away from them. Tears start to fall out of your eyes, and your throat is burning, legs aching, as you head towards your house, and lock the door.
Running up the steps to your room, you just collapse on the bed, sobbing.
Why weren't they more understanding? How come I ruin everything?
A sudden knocking on the window pane stops your crying as you realize who it is.
Chris?
Opening the window, he makes his way into your room and hugs you.
"Why didn't you just tell us that you were upset?" He asked, mumbling in your hair.
"I don't know, I guess I didn't think you would understand..."
He smiled shyly and leaned in, kissing you for what seems like eternities on end. And at that moment, everything seemed perfect, like someone had pressed the pause button on your life story.
"Know that I'm always going to be hear for you, okay?" He said, pulling back.
You smile, and hug him one more time.
"Okay."
