Chapter 66

After her morning class, Zatanna has a bit of a break, so she goes to her room and tries to find another way to free her father from Naboo. That's when Rocket stops by. "You need to get out, Zatanna" she says. "Get away from those spells."
"Can't, not as long as Fate possesses my father's body," Tanna replies.
"Cmon," says Rocket.
"Yeah, cmon," says Artemis who has now appeared in the doorway.
"Fine, fi ti si eht ylno yaw ot ekam uoy tush pu," replies Zatanna. The three head off for a shopping spree and coffee. Zatanna actually rather enjoys herself.

About an hour later, they return to the school and Zatanna goes to her spell caster class, Artemis to her sharp shooting class, and Rocket to her shield creation class. Zatanna, as she sits in class, can't help but miss her father. After all, he's the one that first taught her to spell cast and now he's gone: lost to Fate, possibly forever. A tear falls from her eye as she casts her spell. "Transport."
"Say it backwards or it doesn't work," says her teacher Mrs. Teterspell.
"Tropsnart," says Zatanna as she transports the box from one side of the classroom to the other. She then falls to her knees and cries. The teacher notices and comes over to comfort her.
"I'm fine, it's just father first taught me these spells," she cries in her teacher's arms. "Now he's gone, taken over by the great sorcerer Fate." Her teacher dismisses her to pull herself together. Zatanna couldn't be any more grateful. Then she remembers, her teacher too lost someone to Fate once, her brother, Spector Transpell. That's why her teacher understands. She lost her brother to Fate five years after Kent Nelson and two years before Giovanni Zatara. At least, someone understands her plight. At least, she can take comfort in that.
