Chapter 21

Zatanna misses her father. She now is starting to wish that Dr. Fate had kept her instead. "It's not your fault," Wanda tells her, "the guy chooses who he wills. It just usually happens to be your father." Zatanna knows Wanda's right. How she wishes Wanda wasn't though. Oh how she wishes it wasn't so.

Meanwhile, Jean can barely concentrate in class and the teachers can see that. She's been having to stay late to finish exams and papers. Even Scott is wondering why she's not on her game. "She must be thinking about the baby," he mumbles to himself. "It's been on her mind a whole lot lately." He knows this must be it. He does come and pick her up after class each day now. Only he and her father know that she's pregnant. She's hiding it from the rest of them.

"What's up with Jean?" Rogue asks Kitty.
"I don't know," Kitty replies.
"Why's she acting so weird lately?" Rogue asks.
"No clue," Kitty replies with a shrug.

"The girls can't know," she tells herself. "Yes they can," she argues with herself. "The girls can know," she continues to struggle with the fact of will she tell them and trust them with this huge secret. "I trusted Scott and my father, so why can't I seem to trust Rogue and Kitty with this?" Jean asks herself. She finally decides that she'll them but in private. She's definitely not telling the other boys. They so love to blurt things out.

She grabs them after class and they go to her private dorm she shares with Scott to talk. "Guys," she says, "I'm about to tell you a very important secret, don't tell the others. Promise me that. I'm...I'm pregnant."
"We won't tell the others, we promise," they reply.
"Thanks girls, I know I could count on you," Jean says with a smile. She realizes that some of the others truly already know because Storm is a teacher at the college. She already knows along with some of the Justice League that Jean Grey is pregnant.
