Duncan began ignoring Megan ever since that incident occurred. Loneliness and regret consumed Megan every second as she tried to call Duncan.

He never answered any of her phone calls. Megan began losing hope on any possibility of even talking to him. Then opportunity presented itself to her.

News of his mother's funeral started spreading like wildfire and Megan got to know that the funeral would be soon.

And now she stood in front of the church, all covered in black. She went in quietly so as to not attract any attention. People around her were hugging each other, comforting and more.

Then she spotted Duncan. He was near the coffin, talking to a group of people while holding a handkerchief tightly in his palm.

Eventually though they dispersed and soon the funeral service started. Many went up to say about Mrs Knight – about her battle against cancer, her strength and more.

Then came Duncan the last one before the service ended. He stood at the podium and surveyed the sea of faces.

And by coincidence, his eyes landed on Megan. They stared at each other and he immediately looked away. Megan then looked to his feet. She couldn't remember when Duncan had started his speech but before she knew it, the service was over.

Many had dispersed and Megan got up from where she was sitting. She stood there awkwardly and contemplated on finding and talking to Duncan.

But Duncan had made the first move.

He went to Megan and asked politely if they could talk outside where nobody would be there. Megan agreed and followed him outside and they sat on a bench not too far from the church.

"Hey." Duncan started off awkwardly. Silence soon settled in and both of them wondered what to say to each other to break the silence.

"I am sorry Duncan." Megan blurted out without thinking.

"I am sorry too. I was being an . . . asshole." Duncan apologised and placed his left hand on hers.

"Can . . . we start over?" Duncan mumbled, afraid of what Megan might say to what she had just proposed.

"Yes." Megan replied and she could see the happiness in his eyes. They were shining and she just wanted to capture that moment to replay it over and over again.

They exchanged a few more sentences before Duncan excused himself as he had to go back to the church. He promised Megan that he'll send her home once he finished and true enough, he did.

He dropped her off at her house and before they bade each other goodbye, they shared some french kisses which made both of them dizzy with love.

Megan unlocked her front door and skipped in happily and called out for her mother. Usually at times like this, her dad wouldn't be around so calling somebody's name loudly won't irritate anybody.

However her mother didn't answer. She called out for her again. No answer.

Megan walked over to the kitchen only to be met with a gruesome sight that shocked her to the core.

Her mother was lying on the ground with the hilt of a knife sticking out of her chest and her father hanged.

A note was stuck on her father's chest and it read, “Sorry Megan. Your mother was being a fucking btich.”

And that was the last straw that broke the camel's back.
