The recital went way better than I had ever imagined. Every song went amazingly, and we had a full house tonight. Everyone's reaction after each song made me feel even more confident for the next. After the show, everyone who participated gave a bow and at the end we all gave on at the same time, and more than I could have ever imagined, we all got a standing ovation.
Everyone gathered around with their families and went to get food, and as I was walking up the auditorium to go to my new, huge family, I was wishing so badly that my parents were here. Yes, I know Christina and Robby as people want me to call them now, but I still know them as my parents, I have known that all my life. They had helped me so much to prepare for this day, and it's a shame they didn't even get a chance to see it themselves. I got interrupted with my thoughts when a man about in his late thirties came up to me.
"Are you Ms. Meredith Brooks?" the man asked.
"Yes, I am. Not to sound rude or anything, but who are you?" I asked as politely as possible.
The man laughed and replied, " I am Clark Wright. I am the president of the musical school you applied to a few months ago. Wright's Academy For the Musically Talented?"
I couldn't breathe. The man who pretty much has my dreams and fate in his hands was standing right in front of me and talking to me.
"Oh my God, I am so sorry I didn't recognize you! Wow, it's an honor to meet you Mr. Wright."
"Haha, it's alright, I would like to speak with you and your parents actually."
"Really? I mean ,of course, right this way sir." I said as I led him up the auditorium and up to the seats in which the whole family was sitting in. "Umm, Mom, Dad, this is Mr. Wright. He is the president of the my DREAM music school. He would like to talk to us."
"Oh, that's delightful to hear, of course. How many we help you Mr. Wright?" said my dad.
"Nice to meet you, umm-"
"Jackson Matthews."
"Nice to meet you Mr. Matthews.'
"Please, call me Jackson."
"Jackson, Mrs. Matthews," he said looking at my mother.
"Nice to meet you as well Mr. Wright." Said my mother.
"I would like to talk to you about Ms. Brooks here. She is very talented, and it would be an amazing opportunity for both her and me if she could be a student at my school. It would be a great pleasure to have such a talented musician amongst us."
I couldn't keep all the excitement in, but I was trying my best to keep my happy screams in until this amazing man moves from in front of me.
"That's such an amazing proposal, we will most definitely get back to you about it."
"Here is my card, please notify me your decision as soon as possible." He said with a smile. "Good night Mrs. Matthews, Jackson, and Ms. Brooks." He said with a nod as he walked away.
As soon as he left the auditorium, I screamed so much out of joy, I am surprised that I didn't lose my voice. The whole family started laughing and gave me hugs saying stuff like "Congrats Mere," and "You deserve it." After all the squealing and jumping out of happiness and excitement, Alex and Beth made their way to me.
"What happened?" Beth asked.
"I GOT ACCEPTED TO WRIGHT'S SCHOOL FOR THE MUSICALLY TALENTED!"
"Oh My God!" Alex and Beth said at the same time. We all gave each other hugs and we were just filled with excitement. All of our blood rushing feelings were interrupted when Kale and Blake walked up to us.
"Mere, it's time to go, but Mom asked if you wanted to invite your friends over tomorrow night over at the house?" said Kale.
I looked at Alex and Beth, seeing their faces light up like a Christmas tree.
"We will talk to our parents... but we will text you when we get a decision."
"YES. I'll text you guys later. Bye lovelies."
"BYE" they said in unison yet again.
Kale and Blake took me to the car while I called shot gun and ran up to the door and went inside. Kale started the car, and I put the radio on, while the song "Youth" by Foxes came on. I rolled down the windows, and couldn't help but notice Blake staring at me. When I turned around to look at him, he looked away and his cheek started to turn into a light shade of pink. Kale broke the awkwardness in the car by asking me how my night went.
"It went amazing, Kale. It really did, thank you for bringing me tonight. And my confidence grew when the whole family came to support me. I am blessed to have a family like this. Too bad I missed it this whole time... at least its better late than never." I said the last part looking at Blake, who returned me a small smirk.
........................................................
When we got home, it was about 10 at night cause' I begged Kale to take us to Burger King and Starbucks. Kale leaned that Cotton Candy Frappe is my favorite after buying it three times....
Kale head straight to his room/condo thing saying that he was too tired to move anymore. Blake and I said goodnight to Kale and walked on the path towards to my house.
"You did amazing today, and I don't mean just the recital, I mean handling everything you found out in one day. its crazy."
"Thanks, I appreciate the support you're giving me, it means a lot." I sounded like some news reporter, so unoriginal. Anyway, we finally arrived on the front steps.
"Is it alright if I see you tomorrow? I wanted to show you around, since you barely saw your living room," he said with a nervous smile.
"Yeah, of course. Again, thanks for everything,"
"Sure...." He said looking into my eyes. Oh boy....
He came closer, my heart beating more than a human's heart can take. He came closer to my face. And, I didn't know what to do... I never liked anybody like, a boyfriend way. And I didn't think I was ready for this. But you gotta live for the moment right?
I dont know. I moved away before his lips touched mine.
"I.. I am sorry." He said as he was turning around. I don't think so.
I pulled his arm and turned him around as I kissed him to show that he shouldn't feel embarassed. I didn't know if I really liked him, but he sure was amazing.
As we pulled out from our firework show, we both smiled.
"Are you feeling happy now?" I said.
"Yup. I will wake you up tomorrow morning. I wish you good luck, cause' we have a ton to see."
"Ill be ready." I said with a smirk.
"Good night!" I called out as I walked into my house.
"Night.... " I could hear the way he was smiling. Weird. I know.
TIme to get ready for tomorrow's day. An adventure is sure ahead of us.
