Peeta
We walked to almost every store you could think of that afternoon. H&M, Gap, American Eagle, and Rue 21 for starters. Turns out Cato was pretty damn rich bevause he had wealthy parents who worked in Europe and Canada and other places. His mom was a ticket carrier for an airline, and his dad was a travel agent. Meaning Cashmere and Cato had to be left to themselves the majority of the time. I tried to imagine how lonely he must be not knowing his mom and dad....I tried not to imagine having no mom whatsoever and I realised we were kinda both in the same position. We didnt know our parents. At all.
However, Cato distracted me when he took me to this cute little Chinese place in the mall for lunch. I loved Chinese food when I could get it, and somehow Cato knew that.
I got lo mein because it was my favorite thing to eat with a ton of soy sauce and Cato got teriyaki beef. It worked out because we both stole from each others plates!
I admired the hanging lanterns and positivity banners written in Chinese characters. I heard the waterfall in the lobby and I remembered the day we went to Niagra Falls...the next day I was motherless.
I brushed those thoughts from my mind as we ate. I was with Cato today, not the past.Cato
Peeta sat there eating like his life depended on it. It probably did at this point.
"Enjoying yourself, baby?" I whispered
"Yes, Cato, thanks for taking me here. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this."
"That I bought you Chinese? Boi any fool can do that..." I laughed.
"No silly. I mean for taking on this responsibility. This I am sure you were not expecting." Peeta looked down.
"Baby, I love you so much and even though we haven't known each other but a few days I know that the love I have for you is real. Nothing can change that."
"You must feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders" Peeta whispered.
"You forget, Ive got some broad ones. They can handle it."
"God I cant wait to try to reach my arms around them again...." Peeta said playfully.
"Oh yeah..." I whispered right back as I kissed his soft lips again. The Bakery
"Okay, people, good work. I love the decorations, Cashmere. You have awesome taste." Johanna said as they looked at the elegant yet colorful party tables and tasteful crepe streamers and balloons everywhere. It was just like a birthday party without an actual birthday taking place.
"Okay, we are done!" Clove shouted as her and Katniss brought out the huge homemade banner that read "Welcome Home, Peeta!" on it.
"Nice work, you guys!" Johanna praised as they hung it up outside.
"Thanks. You got great leadership skills, Johanna." Clove said.
"Well, I mean I guess thats why I chose the military as a career..."
Johanna smirked.
Katniss and Cashmere were in the kitchen squeezing frosting on the cake when suddenly Katniss set her icing pump down and said, "Cashmere, I'm sorry about what happened between us"
"Katniss, it wasn't your fault. We just rushed into things too quickly." Cashmere comforted.
"I just hope Peeta and Cato can make it. Make it where we couldn't." Katniss choked down a sob.
"Kat, don't worry. Cato can take care of Peeta. I have full faith in my brother. And I think its time we start over...time to begin again..." Cashmere whispered as she pulled Katniss close to her and hugged her.Song of the Day; Begin Again by. Purity Ring
