"Wake up or I swear I'll drag you out to work in your pyjamas."
Hoseok groaned, trying to hide his face under his fluffy pillow. The loud voice of his roommate giving him a headache.
But right before Hoseok could go back into dream land, someone grabbed his blankets yanking them off of him. The cold morning air hit him, making the boy shiver.
"Yah! What are you doing?", he sat up and looked into the face of a very annoyed Yoo Kihyun.
"I warned you", the boy said, giving him another glare before going to the small kitchen.
"Why am I even living with you? Ugh", Hoseok made an attempt to lay back down, but Kihyun caught him. A water bottle came flying towards him, hitting him in the stomach. A shout of pain followed.
"Without me your sorry ass would be sleeping under a bridge right now!"
Shin Hoseok and Yoo Kihyun were like fire and rain.
Kihyun had always been the better person of the two. Perfect grades, an intact family with loving and caring parents, a well payed part-time job.
Hoseok on the other hand seemed to be a magnet to everything bad.
His dad died early, leaving him and his mother alone. He had carried the weight of his families future on his young shoulders since then.A few accidents happened and Hoseok quit highschool, making him an even bigger failure. He had at least three jobs to pay for his life but even with them he was glad to have Kihyun. Without his best friend, he wouldn't have made it this far.
To Kihyun Hoseok was the most unlucky guy on earth. People would call him a failure, a disgrace to his family but Kihyun knew him better than he knew himself.
"It's friday. Your shift begins early today", Kihyun reminded Hoseok, who was still sitting on his bed sleepily. He handed him a cup of coffee, knowing how that always woke him up.
"Thanks", Hoseok murmured, scrunching up his nose as the hot drink burned his tongue.
Out of all the jobs he did, working at the Kindergarden was something Hoseok actually enjoyed. The kids weren't really fond of him, what his boss noticed quickly, so she let Hoseok do other things, like repairing the toys or preparing food.
"You awake now?", Kihyun grabbed his jacket, throwing his backpack over one shoulder.
"Half way", Hoseok replied, rubbing his eyes but getting up nonetheless. He knew Kihyun wouldn't let him off if he wasn't 100% sure his friend wasn't going back to sleep and Hoseok didn't want him to be late for school.
Kihyun send a small smile his way, nodding.
"Don't forget that we are going to Minhyuk's birthday later", the red haired reminded him, before closing the door behind him.
Hoseok let out a sigh, knowing how stressful his day would be.
_______
He got to his work on time, another coffee cup in his hand but still feeling sleepy. Hoseok cursed himself for watching TV with Kihyun last night. His friend had practically bagged him to watch 'one more episode' and they ended up finishing the whole Drama in one night.
And facing a bunch of four year olds while being tired was no joke.
Hoseok entered the Kindergarden taking his jacket and backpack to the small kitchen that the staff was allowed to use.
Before he could react a loud voice greeted him.
All his jobs had one thing in common: A devil as his boss.
Hoseok turned around to face Miss Boo, who was already fuming.
"You are late", she stated, her hair in a tight bun today which Hoseok thought suited her character perfectly. He knew that he wasn't late, technically he started his shift at eight and he had entered the Kindergarden right as the clock hit eight. For his boss, everyone who came later than 7:50 was definitely late and therefor got a lecture.
Hoseok gave her the deepest bow he could muster and a bright smile. "It won't happen again."
She eyed him doubtfully. Thank god Hoseok knew that she was rather fond of him, even if she didn't show it.
"Please paint the wood figures today", she said with a straight voice, leaving him alone.
"Of cause Miss Boo", Hoseok bowed again and stuffed his jacket in the small locker that had his name printed on it.
Hoseok headed over to the storage room, where he knew the paint was being kept. Without hesitation he grabbed a few colorful bottles, carrying them to the small balcony outside the kitchen.
His arms were full with different painting supplies, Hoseok almost dropping them, opening the door with his hip. He hummed a bright tune loudly. That was why his co-workers always loved Hoseok. The boy was bright and smiley all the time, no matter how bad his day was.
______
Hoseok worked on the figures a few hours and soon the other part-time workers arrived. A few students from university or high schoolers loved helping with the kids.
He didn't really pay attention to them until a certain dark haired boy came strolling into the kitchen. Hoseok could watch him putting his stuff away through the glass door that connected the balcony and the kitchen.
As usual Hoseok smiled at him brightly, even waving a bit. The boy caught his eye but turned around immediately and left the room in a hurry.
From all his co-workers Chae Hyungwon was the only one Hoseok didn't get along with.
The lanky kid was quiet and didn't really talk to anyone. The small children, who he took care of rather fondly, were the only ones he tolerated around him. Hoseok didn't see him talking to anyone else.
He once asked the others about him but no one knew what happened to him and why he didn't talk or liked getting touched. Even the slightest bit of skinship would make him flee out of the room. The few times Hoseok had tried talking to him failed miserably.
Hoseok shrugged and scratched his nose, leaving a bright green spot of color.
He studied the figures in front of him, satisfied with the result.
With a loud yawn, he placed his arms on the table, resting his head on it.
He internally cursed Kihyun again for taking his precious sleep away and didn't even realize how he drifted off to sleep.
