ALTERNATIVE ENDING.
It was Jess's party. Josie cursed as she struggled to put in her eyeliner. She had a shift at Monet's and was really late for the party. She was pretty sure people were starting to leave already.
She answered her phone, balancing it between her ear and shoulder, "Yeah?"
"You're not coming? You told me you'd be there." She heard Jeff say through the phone.
"I'm so sorry, my shift ended only 15 minutes ago and I'm running around trying to get ready." Josie sighed, putting down her eyeliner.
"Do you want to come?" Jeff asked. He couldn't see her the entire day because she was busy but she told him to go to the party without her and she was going to come later.
"Honestly? I'm so tired right now," Josie answered truthfully, "I'm coming because I told you I was coming."
"It's boring here anyway. How about, I come over? I can think of a few things we can do." She could almost feel his smirk through the phone as he suggested.
"I'm waiting. Are people leaving?" She asked.
"No, not yet. But Clay is in there with Hannah. I think shit is happening, finally." He said, "I gotta go. Give me 10 and I'll be there."
"Alright, be safe. I love you."
"I love you too."
And he made it to Josie's that night.
"Mmm," He kissed her softly once she opened the door for him.
She grinned at him, "Come on." She held his hand, dragging him behind her up the stairs and into her room where she turned to look at him, jumping in his arms, putting her lips on his.
"Fuck parties." Jeff said quietly against her lips before kissing her.
The rest is history.
//
"Jeff, come on! I gotta go see Hannah." Josie laughed as Jeff clung to her waist, putting her on the bed every time she tried to get up.
"Cuddle. You. Me. 5 more minutes." Jeff said sleepily, kissing her shoulder.
"You've been saying that for the last 15 minutes." Josie laughed, trying to unhook his arms from around her.
"Will you be gone for long?" He asked her.
"2 hours, maybe 3." She answered him.
"Too long."
"Jeff!"
"Yes?"
"Please?"
"Fine. But you're mine for the rest of the day." He groaned, loosing his grip on her, making Josie get up and look at him. He looked at her and pouted.
"I promise. I love you." She leaned down, pecking his lips.
"I love you. Call me if you need anything. Also can I sleep here till you're back?" He smiled.
"Of course. I'll let my parents know." She smiled at him before going outside and letting her parents know that Jeff was sleeping upstairs.
She was in a Pink Floyd band t-shirt, denim jeans and her iconic converse. As always, she borrowed her mom's car. She really needs her own car.
She rang the doorbell to the Baker's household, waiting patiently until Olivia opened the door. "Hello, Josie,"
"Hey, Mrs. Baker. Is Hannah here?" She asked.
"Yeah, she's upstairs." She pointed, "Go up."
"Alright, thank you." She smiled at her before walking upstairs and to Hannah's room. She knocked, "Hannah?"
"Come in, Josie."
She got inside, closing the door behind her. "Oh no, you look sad. Spill."
And this is what Hannah did. She told Josie about everything she's been feeling and what happened with Clay at the party. She told her everything, not keeping anything bottled up.
Josie hugged Hannah tightly, "I'm going to hug you so tight that all your broken pieces will come together as whole again." She frowned.
Hannah chuckled as she cried on Josie's shoulder. "How did you leave the party yesterday? You said you were tipsy." Josie asked.
"I called mom from Gina's phone and she picked me up." Hannah sniffled, pulling away, "I wanted him to stay, Josie."
"Hannah! There's a Clay at the door wanting to see you!" They heard Olivia yell.
Josie and Hannah looked at each other with wide eyes before Hannah began wiping her eyes, Josie taming Hannah's hair with her hands quickly, "Oh my God, oh my God," Hannah breathed out, standing up and fixing her t-shirt.
They ran downstairs, Josie hiding behind a wall to listen to the conversation as Hannah came face to face with Clay who was panting.
"I'm sorry. I should have stayed and-and, I love you. I know I have a crappy way of showing it but I have never been in love before and I'm so freaking awkward it's beginning to hurt me physically because I was about to lo-" Clay was interrupted with Hannah pressing her lips to his.
Josie's eyebrows furrowed as she peaked out once she found it quiet, putting her hands on her mouth to hide the shocked grin as she saw them kissing.
//
"Then they kissed!" Josie grinned as she sat on the counter in Jeff's kitchen, him standing between her legs.
"Fucking finally!" Jeff threw head back, laughing.
"I know!" Josie laughed, "They went out for a walk when I left."
"You know what I wanna do right now?" Jeff asked.
"What?"
"You."
"Oh my God, Jeff. Every. Single. Time."
"Get used to it because we'll be stuck together for a very long time."
//
Josie, Jeff, Hannah and Clay sat on top of a cliff, sipping cold drinks. Jeff had his arms around Josie, her arms wrapped around his torso while Clay hugged Hannah from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"I love you, guys. I think it's moments like this I will always remember." Josie said quietly, smiling at them.
"Awh, Jose," Hannah cooed, making Josie chuckle.
"Sentimental Josie mode, on." Clay joked.
Jeff grinned, kissing Josie's cheek. "To forever?" He raised his soda bottle up.
"To forever." They said in unison, clinking their bottles before drinking, staring off into the distance and the small town beneath them.
THE END.
