It was 12:50. My 'parents' were asleep. I was in the kitchen, staring out an open window. And then, it happened. I found myself changing into my wolf self, Sky. That horrid feeling, like I was slithering out of my own skin, was upon me. It was the same as when I became Sky as a 9 year old. Through the open window rushed a cool breeze, the smell of crisp leaves lingering outside. I got my hindquarters ready. I wiggled my tail, and, in one sudden motion, I leaped out of the widow, landing on the soft green grass below. Nobody was awake, except for the birds, who were now chirping their songs of fall. I howled to make them stop, because it had been annoying me. I then shook out my fur, and, tail held high, started prancing down the street. It was great being Sky. Especially as a child. As I'd grown old, my Sky job was getting harder each day. I had joint problems, which made it hard to jump. Now, I could frolic everywhere! Yippee! I was so happy I let out a growl. As soon as it ended I regretted it. A ton of dogs from the house alongside my street started barking and growling at me. A couple of their owners put them outside, and I went over to them and touched noses. They wouldn't stop their frenzy. More barking followed. Their owners had to get up-AGAIN- and shush their dogs. I slunk away, my fur mixing in to the night sky. The forest was in front of me. I smelled the trees, yet couldn't see them. The moon was rising. I bolted into the woods, paws crinkling leaves as I ran.
