Part 5

Around noon the next day, Riley was sotting on the stairs woth her white drawing pad and pen in hand. Mary walks out of the living room and notices Riley. "Hun, what on earth are you doing?" She walks to the bottom of the stairs, only taking the first three steps.

"Just drawing. Saw it in a dream during my nap so i wanted to get it out before i forget." Riley blows her long hair out of her eyes.

Mary sighs and walks up to her, taking the hair tie off her wrist and pulling Riley's hair back. "Why don't you become an artsist?" Mary asks, she toes up Rileys hair.

"Already tried. No one would buy from me. Im too original."

"Try and sell them in the shop. No one will know it was you who drew them."

"Ill have to redraw so many old photos. I just have to remember all of them."

"You'll do-" Mary is interrupted by the door bell ringing.

Mary walks down the stairs and gets to the door just as John exits his office. Mary opens the door and finds Jace with his girl friend. "Jace... and Girl friend."

"Hello Mary." Jace smiles.

"He should be waiting for you in the office. Show her to the living room, i havent finished the room yet." Mary moves aside.

They walk inside and set their bags down. "How are the kids doing?" Jace asks.

"The boys are well, at their grams house. Ally is in boarding school now she got worse after you moved away, and Riley..." Mary looks at the stairs then back to Jace. "She beat the cancer and is working hard. She's depressed though."

Jace points his girl friend towards the living room then looks back at Mary. "Why? Is she alright? Is Aubrey ok?"

"Aubrey is growing so much and she's healthy. And I think you know why shes depressed Jace." She says in a hushed voice. "Just do you work and leave her be, keep your girl friend away from her also." Mary narrows her eyes and crosses her arms.

Riley stands up and turns to head up tje stairs. "Good afternoon Riley." She stops and looks down towards the door.

"Good afternoon..." She looks away from Jace and finishes up the stair, holding in tears.
