Chapter Twenty-Three

Melody Reagan.
"Mum?" i gasped. i couldn't believe my eyes. what was she doing here?

"Hey sweetie." she smiled wide, a grin spreading across her face.

"What do you want?" i snapped

"We came to see you sweetie. to save you from this.. place." she took a step closer and i took a step back. i began to laugh. Save me? from what? I'm finally happy and she wants to take that away.

"We? well wherever you are 'dad' you don't need to worry about me. I'm perfectly fine here. i'm finally happy. finally smiling brightly because i'm happy. i will not let any of you ruin it!" i scoffed, "you can come out now dad."

From behind the door he emerged and stood beside my mother. Both of them looked the same, but inside, they were two completely different people. Dressed in black from head to toe. I wonder if they ever had second thoughts about coming back for me. Saving me back then. But i guess it's good that they didn't. or i wouldn't have met shawn.

"Happy? with this guy you just met? you think you'll live happily ever after with the enemy?" she laughed, "you've got a big storm coming sweetie, and if you know what's best for you. i'd leave while you still can."

"the only people who are leaving are the two of you. you killed his parents. if he sees you, he'll kill you too, and if i'm honest, i wouldn't hesitate to let him. you abandoned me. you left me. do you know how hard it's been? believing you were both gone? did you know i nearly killed myself?" i asked, their faces turning white, "no. you didn't. because all you ever cared about was your fucking job and yourselves. so take your stupid box, and get the hell out of my home!" i screamed and pointed to the door

"We didn't know-" my father began but i cut him off

"i don't care. i never want to see either of you again. and if you even try to ruin my happiness again. if you try to hurt Shawn, or anyone else from his family, i will come for you." i began to take a step closer to them, my confidence growing, "I've learned a few things from you guys being "secret agents", i learn pretty fast. One of the most important things you both taught me, is to always stick up for the ones you care for. and that's exactly what i'm going to do."

"i see, you've chosen your side." she nodded, as my dad looked down at his hands, "until next time sweetie," she blew me a kiss and walked towards the door, my father opening it as they both stepped out

"there won't be a next time, mummy." i mocked and slammed the door.

Leaning up against it i let out a sigh of relief before breaking down into tears. They really were alive, they left me, threw me aside like a piece of trash. I have nobody once more. Maybe they're right, maybe Shawn's just pretending to like me so he has something to bribe them with. No. Shawn wouldn't do that, not to me, we're strong, we can ride through the most powerful storms, we can do this.
