After our date, Shawn insisted on taking me back to his house, as he didn't want me walking from the coffee shop in the dark, typical guy thing, but being honest, it was kind of cute.

Blasting the music in the car, i sang at the top of my lungs while Shawn just laughed, his laugh brightening the night sky,

"I lost my shoes last night, i don't know where i put my keys, i was tired and fell asleep beneath an oak tree, ill bet my mothers proud of me, from each scar upon my knuckle and each grace upon my knee.." i sang, consumed in the masterpiece that was Ed Sheeran, my heart overwhelmed with his voice, as it sang angelically through my ears

"sing with me!!" i pleaded

"i don't sing," laughing, he glanced over at me, a smirk on his face showing me he didn't want to,"as much as i hate your voice, i like listening to you make a fool of yourself,"

"hey!!" i slapped his arm playfully, causing him to laugh even more, throwing his head back while i pouted beside him, "just sing with me please and i'll forget you said that,"

"no melody, i don't want to," he stated, the undertone in his voice lowering, but the smile still present on his face

"pleaseeeeeee," i continued

"i said no!" he snapped, his voice ragged from his anger, red in the face and the vein in his neck strained as he gritted his teeth. Chills vibrated up my body, the opposite of the chills i felt when kissing him. Scared of making him angrier, i turned to face the window as tears formed in my eyes. Why didn't i just stop? why do i keep ruining everything?

Pulling over on the motorway, Shawn killed the engine and ran his hands down his face, contemplating what to say, "i'm sorry," he sighed

not wanting to anger him anymore, i didn't reply, but a few seconds later, i settled with an, "it's okay," to relieve the awkward tension

"no it's not, i didn't mean to snap at you like that, it's just a touchy subject for me and-"

cutting him off, i turned to face him, "you don't have to tell me, i want you to tell me when you want to, not because you feel you have to, i shouldn't have pressured you,"

"thank you, and it's okay, you didn't know,"

Turning away from him again, he started the engine up and pulled from the parking space, bringing us back onto the road

"Um Shawn.." i whispered

"yeah?"

"can you bring me home instead please?" i asked quietly, not wanting to offend him in any way

"are you sure?"

"yeah," i fiddled with the ring on my finger, hoping he wouldn't ask any more questions

"alright, what's your address?" i could hear the disappointment in his voice, but i knew if i went to his house, i wouldn't feel comfortable after the previous encounter.

Thinking quickly, i told him the address of another house, in a neighbourhood about a five minute walk away from my apartment. Each house luxurious, with a balcony on each window, and a pool in every garden. Directing him there, he pulled up on the curb beside the house, thankfully the lights were out, signalling nobody was home. Placing my hand on the handle to open the door, i looked back at Shawn and turned to him, "thank you for tonight, and i mean it, it was the best first date i'd ever been on, and i really appreciate everything you did to make it special," i smiled genuinely, showing him i meant it

Swinging the door open, about to jump out, Shawn grabbed my arm causing me to turn to him. Cupping my cheeks with both hands, he connected our lips together, sending electric shocks all up my body, bringing my hand to his cheek, and the other behind his neck, i tugged on his hair, causing him to moan slightly, making me smile into the kiss. Biting down on my lip, he slipped his tongue into my mouth as it gracefully danced with mine, as my hands slid further into his hair, messing it up as they explored every inch of his silky curls. Pulling me closer, despite the difficulties due to the small space, his hands moved down to my waist, caressing my body, as i pulled away breathlessly. Moving from my lips to my neck, he softly kissed it, causing my breath to hitch, as he moved further down with each kiss, leaving little love bites in return. Turning my head to give him more access, i closed my eyes, taking it all in. Lifting his head and locking eyes with mine, his dark brown swirls were consumed with compassion and emotion. Finding my lips again, his soft plump lips attached to mine like a magnet, moving in sync once more. Through that one small kiss, every ounce of passion, and feelings we felt for each other, were exchanged, making me feel on top of the world. Pulling away, he leaned his forehead on mine, our noses slightly touching, stealing another quick peck from him, i encircled my arms around his neck in a tight embrace

"wow mendes, you really know how to make a girl feel special," i smiled

"only you."

Pulling away, much to my despair, i grabbed my bag and opened the car door, jumping out and looking back at Shawn, "thank you for the ride, and for the incredible night, it means a lot to me,"

"you deserved it," he smiled. Smiling back, i closed the car door and stepped back, waving to Shawn as he blew me a kiss, i pretended to catch it and held it to my heart. He pulled away from the curb and out of sight. Double checking he was gone, i walked to my apartment.

Walking up the stairs, my stomach felt uneasy when i caught sight of the door that led into my apartment. It was kicked from the hinges, splinters of wood scattered all over the floor. Hesitantly walking towards the doorway, i walked through searching for the light switch. Pressing it down, it emitted no light, the bulb was blown. Making my way slowly to the cabinet in the entrance, i opened the drawers and pulled out the torch i keep in there, in case of black outs. Turning it on i was horrified to the sight in front of me, everything was tipped over and destroyed, my couch had been torn, with stuffing coming out of every corner, my bookcase toppled over, books scattered all over the place. The shelves on the wall ripped from the nails that kept them there. Taking a step, i heard glass crunch from below my foot, shining the torch down, my heart rate quickened when i saw that it was the frame i kept the photo of my parents and i in, the picture, no where in sight. Searching around, i became frantic as it was nowhere to be seen, the only photo i had left of them, gone.

"Looking for this?" jumping slightly i spinned around on the heels of my feet, leaning against my kitchen counter, holding the photo, was the man from the street earlier today, his English accent splitting through my ears, "thought so, lovely photo i must say," he smirked, folding it up and placing it in his coat pocket

"give me that back!" i demanded, reaching for his pocket before he grabbed my arm firmly, gripping it tight

"i don't think so love." pushing me back, i stumbled but quickly maintained my balance, "nice place you have here, cosy, but a little sad, don't you think? lonely maybe?" narrowing my eyes at him as he raised his eyebrows at my expression, chuckling at me as if the situation was hilarious

"w-who are you?" i stuttered, trying not to show my emotions

"let's just say, i'm an acquaintance of your parents," picking up a snow globe i'd gotten from a charity shop, he examined it before placing it back down

"how do you know them?" i demanded, wanting more answers

"you're a feisty one aren't you?" he laughed, "business,"

"what type of business," i pressured

"they tried to kill me once, thought they'd succeeded too, until of course, that tragic night last year. Watching their car roll off of that bridge was so pleasing, knowing they knew they couldn't get rid of me, that they couldn't keep their poor daughter safe. you know now that i think about it, i wish i'd video taped it," raising his eyebrow and smirking he waited for me to piece together the puzzle

"you. you k-killed my p-parents?" my voice shaking with anger and rage

"ding ding! we have a winner!" he laughed, looking behind me and nodded his head, "now that you know that, i simply cannot let you leave," he shook his head before lifting it once more, "Now."

Before i could question what he meant, an intense amount of pain was inflicted into the back of my skull, and my vision slowly, but surely, faded into darkness.
