A murmur of conversation filled the the dining hall. Students joked around, others rushing to eat. Some leaving the area. Needless to say the place is packed.

Denise held her journal and mechanical pencil in her hand, as she searched for her friends. She gave quick smiles to people as she passed them. She scanned the room, and quickly spotted Kendrick and Gina.

Kendrick was talking about what the student government has planned for after winter break. Just as he started to explain his ideas, Denise ran over to the table.

"Guys!" She exclaimed. "I'm having a midlife crisis!" She cried out, as she pulled out a seat for her to sit. She barely even knows what midlife crisis means, so who knows if she's using it in the right context.

Kendrick paused, and stared at her. To him, anytime Denise is having a crisis it's just another one of her pointless breakdowns that could've been long avoided. In his words: it's getting old.

"Anyway..." Kendrick dragged out. "So Yara was like—"

Denise scoffed. "You guys don't care?" She put her journal down on the table, and crossed her arms together.

"Nope—"

Gina shot Kendrick a glare, then turned to Denise. "We do, what Kendrick is trying to say is that you're just, y'know, a little over dramatic." Gina smiled. "You have a crisis at least three times each semester babe."

"No, what I'm saying is I don't care." He said.

Gina flared her nostrils, quickly grabbing Kendrick's fork, sticking it in his salad and forcing the food into his mouth. He grabbed the fork almost choking.

"What's wrong?" Gina asked.

Kendrick pulled the fork out of his mouth, and eyed Gina.

"So, I have this assignment, for my creative writing class, and it's due right after this lunch." Denise places her hands on the table and sighs. She grabs her journal and flips it open to show Gina her progress with her writing assignment.

"What's wrong with it?" Gina asks. She watches as Denise flips three pages and there full of words. From top to bottom.

"I don't know how to end it." She cracks a smile. Kendrick slides the journal over to himself to take a look.

"Denise, why would you go to that party last night, if you knew you weren't finished?" Gina pushes her eyebrows together.

"I had to Gina." Denise hissed. "College is also about the experience, I can't always bury myself in my studies." She said motioning her hands in an over dramatic manner.

"Hm, well the writing is pretty neat. Good luck." Kendrick said. "Come on Gina." He stood up and pushed his chair in. The girls watched him put the plastic wrap over his salad, and pick it up.

"Where y'all going?" Denise ponders.

"I have practice—"

"Track?"

"No, band dancing." Gina said.

Denise then looks at Kendrick waiting for him to explain why he's leaving as well. "I'm meeting up in the library with the Yara and Brianna for a student government meeting." He explains. "Don't worry, Rodney said he's coming he just had to—oh look there he comes. C'mon Gina." Kendrick began to walk off.
