Early morning talks before class. Winter break is literally right around the corner. And they could not wait! The first semesters is almost done, and over with. Whew, it wasn't easy.

Denise, Kendrick, and Rodney walked down the sidewalk on there way to class. Last winter break the group was not as close. So they didn't really hang out much for the winter break. Being that they've become inseparable Kendrick was thinking about their plans, and if they included him.

He couldn't help but reminisce about New Year's Day of 2017, with Gina being the top subject in his mind. He quickly shook his head of the thoughts...

"Y'all heading home for winter break?" He asks.

"Yeah." Denise says.

Rodney takes his headphones off. "Yeah, are you?"

"Yeah." He says. "We should do something for New Years."

"I say y'all come to New York." Rodney says.

"That's gonna' be a long ass drive." Kendrick snickers. "Damn your ass gotta catch a train, a bus, a greyhound or whatever the hell  and all I gotta' do is hop on a train and drive down the street... For like thirty minutes." He laughs.

"You from D.C. right?" Rodney asks, and he nods. "Damn, I'm the only out our group that's technically out of state."

"Nah, technically I'm considered out of state." Kendrick responds.

"Yeah, but you know what I mean." Rodney says. "'Cause I'm like far out."

"Mhm, 'Cause Denise from B-More County and Gina's from MoCo County." Kendrick shrugs.

"I actually want to go to New York." Denise speaks up. "Like Time Square and all that. That'd be lit."

"Right, and y'all could crash at my space, there's room for all of you. I mean granted someone gotta' sleep on the floor but I got an air mattress and some thick ass blankets. It'd be lit." Rodney says.

They quickly agreed to discuss the plan more before walking off separate ways...

Criminal justice 101. The one class Rodney loved, yet hated at the same time. Professor Davis rambled—yes rambled on and on about anything. To Rodney, he felt as if she just talked in circles and has been talking in circles since August; its December.

He still scribbled down notes, not really taking in her lecture. But he's planning to review his notes after class. He worried about his exam, wondering what the outcome will be. It was an easy test, but with this class you just never know—well on his end.

"After the winter break, I'll be selecting a few students to accompany me to a courthouse." Professor Davis says. "Let me be real honest, I'm most likely only choosing three students—so your winter break assignment will be to study and decipher a case, and trying to defend the person, basically. You will complete it, in the style of an analytical essay."

Rodney rolled his eyes hearing the words winter break assignment. Disgusting.

"Before you leave, reach into this jar and pick the person, who will be your client. Their information will be on the card." She says, holding up the jar before placing it back on her desk. "Class is dismissed."
