"So then what's the problem?" Denise's voice sounds aprubtly.

Gina, staring at her reflection in the mirror, sighs. She sticks her head out to look at Denise who's surrounded by two unopened textbooks, scattered papers and balled up pieces of paper, with her laptop on her lap.

"You said he's a sweetheart, and you vibe well with him." Denise adds in.

Gina turns the bathroom light off and prances towards her bed. "Yeah, he's nice and all." She begins. "But..."

"But? But what?" Denise shifts her laptop onto her mattress as she looks towards Gina. "See, that's your problem. You want those mean ass guys, try something different."

"Um, no!" Gina sneers. "How would you know, anyway? I'm chill on relationships. And Malcolm is not that nice. We both know the shit he be on." She hops in her bed and shuffles around until she's comfortable enough. She grabs her phone, and unlocks it.

It's opens up to her and Malcolm's messages.

"Listen to this, okay? He texted me this morning and said: Good morning pretty, I hope you have a good day. Text me after your through with your classes so we could hang." She says.

"What's wrong with it?" Denise asks, puzzled.

"Not done, so I return the gesture and he's like—Okay, first I had to do something. I forgot to text him, and then he texts me at 5:00 PM saying that he thinks I'm leading him on..."

"Aren't you—"

"No, what? No. Listen he said: I'm feeling you, but to be real I don't think we're in the same headspace so can you let me know what's up, like right now." Gina paused. "I like him, but at the same time I'm a very busy person, ya know. I just forgot to text him back and now he's making me feel bad, because I don't know if I like him like him." She rambles.

She switches her phone in her hands, as she looks at Denise. Denise scribbles something in her journal before glancing up at Gina.

"And my life right now is the same cycle..." Gina continues. "My grades are good, my track career is pretty decent. Social life, fairly okay. So I'm chillin' and it's like I don't want to ruin everything."

"Just admit you're bored and go to sleep." Denise says.

Gina laughs, and throws her pillow at her. "Shut up."

"No wait, matter of fact. Tell Malcolm exactly what you just told me—not that you're bored, but...  The whole life being the same cycle and shit."

"Okay." Gina took to her phone and began to type. "I hate you for knowing me so well." She chuckles, as she's types.

"Wait. Are you bored with him, or is life just boring right now?" Denise asks, finally cracking open her textbook.

She thinks for a moment. "Life is super boring, right now. I feel like I'm running on no enthusiasm, that's all."

"Answer the question, are you bored with him?" Denise quizzes.

Gina narrows her eyes at her. "No?" She switches her eyes from side to side. "Yeah, no." She glances at the message she typed for Malcolm, she reviews it twice before sending it.
