Chapter 26 – Leaving Behind

I knew Rian probably had good intention but I was still feeling too raw and blistered to break the ice between us so I held my silence while she sat beside me.

"I'm not sorry." Rian's voice sounded so small, almost a whisper. She had a stubborn determined look on her face. "I care about you and I love you. I don't won't you to keep putting yourself at risk, selling your body and pride everyday. Kai wants the same or I would have never lied to you." How could I stay angry at Rian when she put it that way. I signed feeling defeated already and she only spoke less than two sentences. "I have so little family already, I don't want to loose anyone else." She was crying now.

"Come on." I groaned pulling her into my arms and I felt like shit for actually getting mad at her when she started sobbing on my shoulder.

"I felt so bad for doing it but I knew that was the only way to get you there."

"Yeah you literally threw me under the bus." I felt her stiffen at my words and was quick to clarify. "But in a good way. I know you did it for my own good but when the only thing I have left is this little bit of pride I have it's hard to give in to him. But don't worry I don't blame you at all ok." I pulled her off my shoulder to look at her face. Good thing Rian didn't wear much makeup or she would be looking like a clown with all the tears running down her face.

That settled, we moved out of the dining area to see the guys lounging on the sofa. Sehun gave me a wary look that turned cold when he saw Rian's face but before he could blow off on me for having made his girl cry, Rian walked to him and whispered in his ear, probably reassuring him. Kai gave me a questioning look but made no comment.

"Right, well I hate to leave you all like this but I actually need to get to work." I spoke breaking the silence.

"Like hell you are." Kai frowned getting up, his glare showed how pissed he was. "We had an agreement Jina." He literally growled, he was that mad. Before I could react he was pulling me with him to his room. "Give us a minute man." he called over his shoulder and I had only a second to catch Rian's worried gaze before he was closing the door behind us.

"Kai it's ridiculous what you were suggesting. We were both just lost in the moment." I said feeling exasperated at his reaction.

"You know damn well it's not. You've got so much going on right now and I feel responsible. Damn it Jina, don't be so damn fucking stubborn." He ran his hand over his damp hair and I wanted nothing more than to do the same, my fingers were itching. Focus! I needed to focus.

"No it's not. Kai I was a stripper before you even knew about my existence. None of this had any relation to you."

"You didn't have a sex tape floating around then, you weren't on anyone's radar then. You may have stripped in front of thousands of men but no one paid attention to you, just your body. It's different now." I was confused; I didn't know what he was talking about. It must have shown on my face because he was quick to clarify. "Jina, there was hundreds of people, people in the entertainment industry, when you walked to a hall of people, dressed in nothing more than scraps of clothes and slapped me in the face. People are bound to be curious."

"Oh god!" I paled finally getting what all this was about.

"I know stripping is meant to be a stepping stone for you, just a bad patch in your life. Well not anymore, not if you keep doing it right now because unlike before you are more than in their radar now. You're linked to me now."

"I'm so sorry Kai, I never realized this." I sat down on the bed, feeling my knees going weak. To think that I almost ruined his career for him, I was horrified. It would destroy his image to be linked with a stripper. Oh media more than speculated how bad Kai actually was but they never had anything solid on him to publish, only rumors and juicy gossip. His company paid big bucks to make sure those kind of rumors stayed carefully controlled. But this would have blown up big.
