FIVE YEARS AGO
Jayson is at the usual place again... the same day, every year. It's like his annual activity to go on the same coffee shop. Every eleventh day of October, he went on the shop― order the same coffee, sit on the same spot and eat the same chocolate cake. The same as it is. He will be in this place just to reminisce everything that happened five years ago, when he broke up with the girl of his dreams. Maybe, it's the last time.
"What is your order, sir?" the girl employee asked the man on a white polo.
"The same order." He smiled and looked at his phone. It's already one o'clock. The same time they came five years ago.
"Again sir?" the girl confusingly asked. Hearing what the employee asked, the man lifted his face up and looked at the girl.
"Looks like you're new here." He then smirked. "I want an espresso and a chocolate cake."
"Okay, sir."
After the transaction, he just went on the same spot like it was before. He sat there, alone. Though, it's so awkward because almost all the people inside the coffee shop are all lovers, he just managed his composure. Besides, he doesn't care about them; he cares about her... about what he just did five years ago.
"Sir, here is your order. Thank you." The girl then put the orders on the table and left afterwards.
Jayson just smiled on how he sees the girl's hands were shaking. He thinks that she was new in the coffee shop that made him smile. For five years, all the employees actually did know him, on what spot he likes, the kind of coffee he wants and of course the same cake.
While calmly sipping the espresso, he looks at the lovers in front of him. The girl laughs when the boy tells her something, just like them... before.
"Jayson, I love you!" Mary said happily in front of his boyfriend. The boy then kissed her right hand that made the girl's face turned into a fresh tomato.
"I love you more," the boy said but it was not filled with love. It was direct. He's emotion is unimaginable. His face is unrecognizable. It has nothing on it.
"What's with that face?" the girl awkwardly asked. In order not to offend the boy, she tried to give him a smile. "Are you trying to be, Mr. Bean?" Then, she laughed but still his face was emotionless.
"Do you really love me?" He said it straight-forwardly, looking at the girl's eyes.
"Of course, I love you. What kind―" The boy stopped her, putting an envelope on the table. "Is that a love letter? How sweet!" She was trying to fill the scene with rainbows but she couldn't. The boy is still serious.
"Yes, it is... from you to another person." The girl's energy disappeared. Her hands that were kept moving moments ago, stopped. Her face that was filled with smile, changed into a shocking expression. "Don't you recognize it?"
"How? How did you get it?" The girl composed to ask though she kept getting his breath back.
"Do you love me?" the boy asked again. He, then slowly touched her left hand while still looking at her intently.
"Of... of course." The girl tried to smile.
"Liar," he directly said and took her hand back.
