"He's going to suck my soul out of my body," Dinah Jane Hansen mumbled as she paced the length of Camila Cabello's living room, nibbling at her thumb nail. "Chancho, he's going to kill me. It's the end of the line for me."

"Dinah, you're way overreacting. Mr. J is totally not that type of guy." Camila assured her as she propped her head on the arm of the couch. "Now, he may attempt to intimidate you or scare you away but he won't steal your soul."

"Oh wow, that makes me feel so much better." Dinah mumbled with a shake of her head as she pinched at the bridge of her nose. "I thought getting the best friend's blessing would be fun, and that'd it warm me up to telling her dad."

"Well, if it helps, you do have my blessing. I know you're going to make an honest woman out of my Lolo and I can't wait to see it." Camila beamed as she sat up, watching as Dinah smiled lightly. "Just relax and take a breath."

"Would you maybe come with me? I mean, Lauren's already over there and I thought maybe you could distract her why I ask him." Dinah sighed as she rubbed at the back of her neck, watching as Camila popped up from the couch.

"Of course, Cheechee. Any excuse to go to the Jauregui's and steal their food." Camila chirped as she moved towards Dinah, grabbing the younger woman's wrist in her hand and tugging her towards the door.

-

The Jauregui household had never seemed so cold to Dinah as she stood on the sidewalk and stared at the front door, a lump growing in her throat causing her to swallow hard in an attempt to get it to disappear.

"You can do this, D." Camila assured her as she squeezed the woman's arm before once again latching onto her wrist and dragging the reluctant woman towards the door. "Oh second family, look who's here!"

"We're in the kitchen, Camz!"

Dinah could feel a comfort washing over her as she followed the sound of her girlfriend's voice, her breath catching once she finally locked eyes with Lauren who sat on a stool snacking on a bowl of strawberries.

"Hey, babe." Lauren grinned as she stood from the stool, moving towards the younger woman and burying herself in her arms as she pressed a kiss to her pulse point before resting her chin on her chest to stare up at Dinah. "I missed you."

"I missed you too," Dinah whispered as she dropped a kiss to Lauren's forehead before moving her lips down the bridge of her nose and finally pecking her lightly on the lips, lingering for a moment. "Is your dad around?"

"Yeah, he's out back working on Chris's motorcycle." Lauren replied with a furrowed brow as she watched Dinah nod absently as she bit her lower lip. "Why do you need to see my dad? Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, baby, everything's fine." Dinah nodded as she forced a shaky smile onto her face before releasing a deep breath. "I'm just having trouble with my own bike and I thought he might be able to help me."

"Oh, okay." Lauren said with a bright expression as she arched onto her toes to kiss Dinah softly before dropping back to the flat of her feet. "I'm going to go talk to my mom, I'll see you in a few?"

Dinah nodded and watched Lauren go before she tightened her hands into fists and made her way towards the open patio door, her gaze settling on the back of Michael Jauregui who was busy fiddling with an engine.

"Hey, Mike." Dinah called as she felt butterflies swarming in her stomach, nipping at her stomach as it rolled in protest before she caught sight of the man turning to look at her with a look of happiness.

"Isn't this a pleasant surprise? First Lauren, and now you?" Mike chuckled as he set his wrench aside before wiping the back of his hand over his forehead. "What are you doing here, Dinah? Is everything okay?"
