Dinah Jane Hansen smiled lightly as she twirled her wife, Lauren Jauregui-Hansen giggling as she spun herself back into the safety of the younger woman's arms, tucking her face in the crook of her neck with a sigh of contentment.
Across the room, Mike Jauregui watched with a flute of champagne in his hand, a soft sigh leaving his lips as he watched the way Dinah cradled his daughter so carefully, her eyes glued to Lauren's face.
A lump of emotion settled in the depths of the man's throat as he swallowed hard, his hand shaking as he lifted the champagne glass to his lips and took a small sip before setting the glass on a nearby table and straightening out his tie.
The man smiled gently as he approached the dancing pair, the guests around them pausing to watch closely as Mike continued to scoot around people before he finally stopped behind Dinah and tapped her on the shoulder.
"May I cut in?"
"Of course," Dinah nodded with a nod as she reluctantly drew herself away from Lauren, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead before she offered her wife's hand to Mike who eagerly took the limb in his own.
"You look beautiful, mija," Mike whispered as he twirled his daughter into his arms, his eyes watering as he watched a shy expression slide across her face. "I'm so happy for you, Lauren. And I'm so proud of you."
Mike sucked in a deep breath as he listened to the laughter and happiness that flowed freely through the patio doors, his eyes flickering up briefly to watch as Lauren flaunted her ring at Camila who squealed as she grabbed at her hand.
Beside her, Dinah rested a gentle hand on her lower back as she tucked her other hand in her pocket while staring at Lauren with pure adoration in her eyes; it made his heart flutter with joy for his little girl.
Dinah was everything he had wanted for Lauren to find; she was gentle, caring, loving, and always there to wipe away Lauren's tears before they had fallen too far. She was, and always would, his daughter's true soulmate.
A small, half-smile slid across his face as he swallowed around a lump in his throat before glancing up at the kitchen wall to see a familiar picture of his three-year-old daughter staring back at him.
Stepping around the kitchen table, Mike moved towards the wall and grabbed the frame from the nail before staring down at the memory frozen in time; things had seemed so simple back in those days.
"Daddy?"
Mike jumped in surprise as he turned to see Lauren walking through the patio doors, a beam lighting up her face causing him to chuckle as he returned the picture to the wall before moving towards his daughter.
"It's nice to get a moment with you, mija," Mike grinned as he scooped his daughter into his arms, pressing a kiss to the top of her head as he held her close. "Everybody's been so busy stealing you away from me and your mother."
"You know how Camz gets about stuff like this," Lauren chuckled with an amused roll of her eyes before she looked up at her father. "Why have you been so quiet today? You've barely said two words to Dinah."
"I've just been doing a lot of thinking," Mike confessed with a shrug of his shoulders. "It's just hard to believe that my little girl is going to be getting married. I think I'm just trying to get rid of the shock of the idea."
"Daddy, you knew from the moment that you met Dinah that she was the one for me. Really, this day was kind of inevitable." Lauren teased as she poked at her father who sighed before shaking his head.
"It's just hard, you're not gonna need me anymore." Mike explained, chuckling as Lauren groaned before rubbing at her forehead. "I mean it, Lauren. You're going to have her now, you're not going to need me."
