3rd POV

Daciana had fallen asleep and Sorin was still inside her room standing in a corner staring at the empty space before him. He could hear her soft breaths as she slept. There was nothing he could do for her back then but take her away from the Lupu mansion and as far as he could from the werewolves. It was true that no one knew what would happen to Daciana, but certainly he wasn't going to let anyone harm her. The moon light was dim inside the room. Sorin looked up at Daciana. He braced himself and bit his lower lip.

-"Damn it...-" he cursed under his breath as he looked away from her.

Daciana's body had some involuntary movements. He slowly stood up and walked towards her. Closing in his trembling right hand, he placed it over Daciana's head and began caressing her head. He caressed her with soft strokes while calling her name sweetly. Her body began calming down and then a small smile appeared on her face and she kept sleeping peacefully. Sorin moved away from her quickly and turned around.

-"Her scent...it's sweeter when she sleeps"- he said to himself while covering his face with one hand in frustration.

. . .

The next day, Sorin and Daciana were sitting on the dinning table eating their breakfast in silence. Daciana was eating some waffles while Sorin drank a glass of blood.

-"You're awfully too quiet today, Sorin"- said Daciana as she picked a piece of her waffle with a fork.

Sorin looked up a little startled and blinked a few times before placing the cup on the table.

-"I...I was just lost in my own thoughts. Sorry"- he said while giving her a small smile.

She rested her chin over her left arm and munched on her waffle. Sorin observed her for a while. He was certain that she was not okay at all, but was trying her best to be strong.

-"Seems like you're not making any ruckus this time"- said Vlad as he walked past by Daciana.

-"Come on. You don't have to say that to her"- said Sorin.

-"Well, the half breed almost ran us out of food with her monstrous appetite"-

-"But she hasn't been like that ever since, you know"-

Vlad squinted his eyes and walked towards Sorin.

-"Seems like you're quite fond to the half breed"- he said in a low tone of voice and then kept walking.

Sorin sighed and stood up. .

-"Should we go to the library?"- said Sorin as he stood next to Daciana.

Daciana nodded. She knew Sorin didn't particularly enjoyed books, but if he was inviting her to the library, then he must've had some sort of plan.

. . .

She didn't know how to start...

As soon as they got to the library, Sorin picked up a few books and sat in a corner to read them one by one. She tried to do the same but had ended up taking too much and was now surrounded by a few piles of books. She looked up at Sorin, wishing he could at least tell her what he was looking for, but she ended up taking a quick glance at one of the books he had chosen and tried to find some with a similar topic. In the end, she had taken books she had found interesting and got carried away. Even if she was now stuck with those books, it was quite a sight to see Sorin reading a book. He was already submerged in it and hadn't noticed what she did.

-"Sorin"- she called out to him timidly.

Sorin was so focused that he didn't hear her.

She sighed and picked up one of the books and began reading it.
