Blood splattered on the ground followed by a firm voice that said "SNAP OUT OF IT!". She slowly opened her eyes and realized that she wasn't dead. Her hands were still shaking over the knife. A bloody pale hand held the blade. Daciana slowly raised her sight and met Sorin's golden eyes before her, just a few inches away from her face. Her eyes grew wider than plates and her hands immediately released the knife. Sorin released the knife and it clinked against the floor. His arms were immediately wrapped around Daciana and he pulled her against his chest. Daciana was in pure disbelief as she was held tightly by Sorin, her vampiric guardian since the day they found out that she had a mixed blood. Tears kept streaming down her face like infinite waterfalls. Her arms wrapped around him and she sobbing uncontrollably. Sorin gave a small smile and began caressing her head softly.
-"I don't wanna die like this Sorin! I'm not ready for this yet!"- she cried out over his shoulder. "I still have to say so much to you and to everyone else...This is unfair!"
-"Then tell me. What is it that you wish to tell me?"- he said while pulling away in order to look at her.
Both hands were placed over her shoulder holding her in place, unable to get away from him. Daciana averted her eyes.
-"...It's complicated"- she said almost in a whisper.
Sorin clicked his tongue and placed a hand under her chin and forced her to look at him directly in the eye. He placed his lips over hers. Daciana's eyes went wide. Her tears suddenly stopped and her arms fell at her sides. Sorin slowly parted away from her and looked at her directly in the eyes.
-"Sorin...what's the meaning of this?"- she said in a low tone of voice.
-"Do you think I will just let you end your own life? Didn't you say you still had a lot of things you had to say to me?!"-he cried out. "And you wanted to die and then live like a regretful little ghost somewhere?! Like hell I'mma allow that!"
-"Sorin, you're hurt"-
-"I'd be fatally injured if you had taken your life away, Daciana"-
Daciana hid her face on his chest. Her trembling hands fell on his shoulders again. She thought about what Sorin had said to her and decided it was time to tell him.
-"Sorin. What I am about to tell you is something that might be a little complicated. It's not something common among wolves"- she began.
-"What? That you imprinted on a vampire? What about it?"- he spoke of it as if it were something completely natural to him.
Her cheeks went pink and her eyes widened. She immediately straightened up and looked at him shocked.
-"You knew?!"- Daciana shrieked.
-"Uhu"- he said while nodding.
-"Why didn't you tell me?! Since when?"-
-"Maybe I just wanted to hear you admiting it"-
-"Sorin!"-
-"What? That would have been a cute confesion!"-
Even though he had ran as fast as he could in order to stop her and had witnessed what she was about to do to herself, Sorin was still trying to brighten up the mood with his humor.
-"Though, I am certain that due to the circumstances it wouldn't have been that cute or maybe I wouldn't even find out about it at all"- he said almost to himself. "I just wish you'd be more honest with yourself, Daciana"
In the end, he didn't care about his wound or about anything related to himself. He was just focused on Daciana's safety.
-"Such a selfless vampire..."- Daciana spoke almost to herself.
Sorin's wound began healing and he smiled up at her.
-"Such a silly girl, running away from everyone when she still had so much things to say."- Sorin spoke kindly to her. "Look, princess. You want to live, right?"
Daciana's eyes gleamed as she heard Sorin's question. She nodded earnestly.
-"You've been stuck trying to decide on what to be, a wolf or a vampire...To be honest, both of us know that you won't be able to remain a werewolf. You're aware of that, right Daciana?"- he continued.
Daciana averted her gaze and nodded.
-"Listen carefully to what I will say. We have all agreed on letting you become a vampire"-Sorin finally said it.
It wasn't something he'd agree to with ease, but knowing that Daciana also wanted to live, then he had no other choice. Daciana's eyes widened.
-"What about my clan...? How will I face Sam and Alexander? I was supposed to take care of the clan in Dacia's place..."- she began muttering her thoughts.
Sorin watched her in silence and then held her against his chest once more. He wanted to feel her warm skin against him one more time. Once she became a vampire, she wouldn't be this warm anymore. He wouldn't be able hear her beating heart and less would he see her slightly flushed face. Daciana knew that Sorin didn't want her to become a vampire, but it seemed that he found that option to be the best for her.
-"Your clan will be just fine. Sam and Alexander? They were just as confused and scared as you, but I am certain that you will be able to face them just fine. You're Daciana Lupu after all, I am certain that they will understand that you are capable of taking care of your people in so many other ways than just being alpha. You're far more than a direct descendant of previous alphas."- Sorin's words had impressed her.
Such strong words filled with so much hope and understanding. She smiled from the bottom of her heart after such a long time being consumed by pain and bittersweet memories. It seemed that her human self was right to have been attracted to this vampire and her wolf self had known even better and had imprinted on him. Happy tears ran down her face as she wrapped her arms around him. She laid her head over his left shoulder and held him tightly.
-"I don't know why my mother sang such a sad melody back then...Maybe it wasn't meant for me at all"- she said to herself while placing a hand behind Sorin's head.
Sorin held her tightly. He still had so many things to tell her, but her time was almost up. Daciana began shaking and her grip tightened. Tears began streaming down Sorin's face while his fangs came out. His eyes were golden now. She began pushing his head closer to her neck despite being under so much pain.
-"I'm sorry Daciana"- his words were sincere.
He really didn't want to do it.
-" Didn't you say you'd make me your belonging some time ago?"- she mocked him with a trembling voice. "I don't want any other vampire to do so, Sorin Gheata, my friendly neighbor; my vampiric mate"
Sorin tried to suppress his emotions while his fangs pierced her exposed neck. She gasped as she felt his fangs pierce her skin. Sorin's eyes were filled with tears as he began drinking Daciana Lupu's blood. Just as he had suspected, her blood was sweet. It was the scent he had been obsessed with ever since he met her and now here he was tasting it for the first time instead of just pleasing himself with its scent. Blood ran down her shoulder and stained her clothes. Daciana's hands were shaking uncontrollably on Sorin's shoulders. She looked down at him and smiled. They made eye contact and Sorin suddenly wanted to move away, but Daciana began caressing his head. It was obvious that he couldn't stop for two obvious reasons: her blood was too tempting and he needed to almost drain her like it happened to Dacia. Daciana began losing strength. Her arms dropped at her sides and she slowly began closing her eyes.
I'm sorry, Princess... Sorin's thoughts echoed in his head.
