Lucian's POV
As soon as I arrive home, I stumble upon my father who stood there as if he already knew that I would arrive at this precise moment. I could see a smirk growing on his face. Our conversation doesn't last long, for I end it with a mere "I don't know". I simply walk past by my father.
-"Sooner or later you'll have to figure that out, Lucian."- said my father behind me.
Yes, my life doesn't seem so complex because I usually seem so carefree and such. The truth is that for me it has been quite a hassle. At school, for instance, what the heck was I supposed to say about my father? Was I going to say 'Oh, I'm the son of Vlad III and live in Bran Castle' ? Hell no. At some point I ended up being home schooled and when I was older I had the chance to have it my way.
I head to my room and throw my jacket in a corner. I open one of my drawers and take out my box of cigarettes and light one up. I haven't smoked in a while. It's not like I'm smoking all the time, but I seriously needed a stress reliever. I sigh and open a window. I was relieved to be back home. At least here I wouldn't be hearing those wolves argue about Daciana's problems. It's not that I don't care about Daciana, it's that I had always lived such a carefree life and tried to avoid all vampiric problems at all costs, and now that I'm with Daciana, I have been dragged to her wolf problems as well. It is not as if I didn't know what I was getting myself into....I mean, come on. Is it normal to be a human with a vampiric father? It was expected that I'd fall into their realm, but not like this.
I heard a knock on my door and I groan. I just wanted some time for myself and now I have someone who wants to ruin my peace. The door swung open and I saw Sorin standing there with his brows frowned.
-"What do you want now, Sorin?"- I said turning around and letting some smoke out.
-"Smoking again, huh?"- he said. "What's up with you?"
-"What's up with me? What's up with you who comes and invades my personal space?"-
-"Listen, little brother. We have a big problem in our hands."-
-"If you are talking about Daciana, I don't want to hear about it."-
Sorin fell silent. I closed my eyes and tried to stay calm. I knew I said something that I shouldn't. Still, I was so uncomfortable with the whole issue that I was already in a bad mood. I slowly turn around and noticed that Sorin had folded his arms across his chest.
-"Why did she had to go ahead and like my insensitive human brother?"- he said.
I didn't know what to say about that. It was as if those words had come out from deepest part of him.
-"Anyways, pops says that maybe she's gonna become like me."- continued Sorin.
-"A vampire?"- I reply.
-"Yeah."-
-"How nice."-
-"Jerk. She's going through a tough time and you haven't even asked her if she's okay. What's wrong with you?!"-
-" You had to play Knight in shining armor back there and they were all mad!"-
-"I had to, Lucian! If I didn't take her away from there, they were going to seriously lock her up and her life would depend on her luck!"-
I stop myself from saying anything further. He made it sound as if she were going to die if she were to be locked up, like her clan wanted to. I honestly don't know how this things work, so I do believe that just rebelling against her, the Alpha, is wrong. And locking her up...I thought it would just be a temporary thing. But my brother Sorin made it sound like it was far more serious than I thought.
