You were a dentist, not a phycologist, but you could tell that he was nervous and unhappy. The captain sat in the chair, but not his normal captain's chair, the dentists chair, a place basically hated by everybody. His eyes wandered around the room nervously, as you made sure all the equipment was in order. "Captain, I can see that you're a bit nervous, but I promise this will be almost painless," you reassured him. He smiled and nodded. "Thank you," he muttered. You promptly finished with the equipment and put on a pair of tight rubber gloves. "Can you please sit back for me?" you asked smiling into his deep blue eyes. He nodded and sat back in the chair. He wasn't saying anything but his lips were still slightly pursed and his gaze was wondering around. "Captian, I promise that I'll be gentle okay?"
He nodded, "I'm sorry I just... don't like needles in my mouth, I mean I can deal with them in my arm or neck, but just not my mouth..." His face turned a bit red, he must've been embarrassed telling you this. "It's okay," you said gripping one of his hands with yours. At first he seemed surprised by the gesture, but then he welcomed it. "Okay, I'm about to put the needle in, is that alright?" His hand grasped yours tighter and he nodded. His body tensed and he closed his eyes. You could see his hands shaking slight and you felt really sorry for him. You slowly slid the needle into his gum, and his hand gripped yours so tightly it almost hurt. He let out a slight groan of discomfort as you slowly pulled the needle out. You put a bit of cotton wool in his mouth and he closed it, breathing a sigh of releif. "It's all over now." You noticed he was still holding your hand, and you didn't really mind. "You alright?" He opened his eyes and nodded. "Sorry," he muttered. letting go of your hand. "No don't be sorry," you said, taking off the glove that he'd held your hand with. "Thank you," he muttered.
"For what? I'm only doing my job."
He shook his head, "I'm a grown man, you shouldn't have to hold my hand like a five year old girl, but you did, and I'm grateful for that."
You could hardly understand what he said, because of the cotton in his mouth, but you made dealing with the pain a lot easier for him.A few hours after you'd fixed a broken tooth belonging to the captain, you were just in the mess hall getting something to eat when someone tapped you on the shoulder. "I know I said this earlier, but thank you and I'm sorry I acted like five year old girl. I just really don't like needles."
You laughed, "No it's fine."
He smiled, "Can I get you a drink? I think I owe you for almost breaking your hand."
You smiled again, "Yeah sure."(A/N Enjoy!!)
