Spock

*minor swearing*

It was just about the beginning of lunchtime, and the busyness of the halls started to die down. You were already at your locker, pulling out and putting in different books. The door of an adjacent classroom opened and Spock walked out, carrying his books to a locker a few meters away from yours. It was your second last year of high school, and you'd known Spock for quite a while now. You had had a few conversations with him, and he seemed quite nice and intelligent. You had started really liking him, but you didn't know whether Vulcans loved other people, or whether they even felt emotions. Spock had his eyes fixed straight ahead as he put his things into his locker. He didn't seek to notice you watching, but you liked it like that. The rest of the people cleared out, leaving just you, and him. Spock closed his locker and started to turn the combination on it. A group of three taller guys, maybe in the same year, walked up to him, and crowded around him. You could hear what they were saying, but watched silently anyway. Spock didn't flinch, he kept the same facial expression and continued to organise his locker. One of the guys pushed Spock only likely, just enough to make him uncomfortable. He didn't like being touched are far as you knew.

You walked towards them, really slowly just enough to hear what they were saying. "You're neither human or alien, you don't belong here, go back to your own planet traitor," they taunted. Spock remained the same, but his eyes showed obvious hurt. "You're mother is a whore," one started saying. Before either of them could even think, Spock threw a punch, hard and fast, striking directly in face. He fell it the ground and the other two swung at him. He avoid both swings and grabbed their necks, causing them both to fall to the ground. Spock looked over at you, and then quickly down towards the ground. "I should not have done that," he said shaking his head. The other guy who was punched first started to stand, but Spock nerve pinched him and he fell back down. Spock dabbed his face with his sleeve. "I'm sorry," he muttered, and began to walk away.

You ran back up beside him, and pondered what to say. "Um, Spock do you think if we just went and sat down for a while, and talked?" He looked at you, and nodded. You walked with him to the nearest empty space outside, and you sat down on the grass facing him.

"I don't think what you did was illogical..." You muttered. He studied your facial expressions for a moment, "May I ask why?"

"They shouldn't have taunted you. And this isn't really realted, but I think it would be awesome to do what your mother did and marry someone from another planet. It would be really cool learning about their culture and lifestyle. I don't know, I just find it interesting...." You trailed off, playing with a few pieces of grass.

"What would you do," he asked, "If you were in my situation?"

You shrugged, "I'd be proud to be half-half and not worry about what they say."

Spock opened his mouth, "Thank you."

"For what?"

" Talking to me, not many people want to associate with me."

You smiled, "I like talking to you Spock, I think you're interesting. We should hang out or talk more."

It was silent for a while but at one stage he looked up at you and his eyes seemed to smile, "I would be quite interested in your friendship. Thank you. For today, I really appreciate your concern."

You smiled at him and moved a little closer to him. "I'll look out for you Spock." He looked up at you and the corners of his lips flicked up. He drew patterns on the ground in front of him. He opened his mouth to say something, but closed it again. "May I tell you something," he whispered, leaning close to you. You nodded, awaiting his response. "I feel that I am... attracted to you," he finished awkwardly. "I would be interested in pursuing a relationship with you, if you were interested."

You stared at him for a second, trying to take in what he was saying. "Spock, I'd love too," you managed to stutter, grinning at him. He smiled slightly, "I should just warn you that I'm not very capable of or comfortable with physical contact yet." You shrugged, "It's fine." He stood up, "may I accompany you to your next class?" You nodded and walked beside him, giggling slightly. He briefly looked across at you, and as you turned away, he smiled.
