Scotty
Singing was just one of those things that you did subconsciously all the time, often to the frustration of those around you. Becoming an engineer meant noisy machines that drowned out the noise of your voice (even though you'd been told it wasn't that bad) You were especially happy today, even though you barely knew why. It was just a smooth day with only a small three hour shift. Mind you the rest of it would be spent doing reports but that didn't bother you. You started off just humming, which turned into mumbling, which turned into lyrics. You were working on the wiring of a machine, and singing quite loudly when footsteps interrupt your tune. You moved out from underneath and looked up at the chief engineer. "Oh hey Scotty! I'm sorry about my singing, I didn't even realize I was doing it..." You muttered, standing up next to him and wiping your hands. "Nay lassie, it was beautiful. I just wanted to see who it was!" He said happily. "I really liked it, and the song seemed familiar, what was it?"
You thought for a moment, "I dunno just some silly love song." He grinned, "Will you sing a bit for me lass?" he asked. You giggled, "Scotty please, I'm really not that good..." He shook his head and started to follow you as you walked around the noisy decks of engineering. "Come lassie," he begged, still wandering after you even though he probably had more important things to do. "Will you tell me what tha' song is at least?" he asked. You smiled, "It's a song from an old Disney movie, Lady and The Tramp. It's the song where they eat the meatballs and they kiss..." You smiled at him and laughed awkwardly. "I know tha' song, it 'as an Italian name," he said thinking. You nodded, "Bella Notte?" He smiled excitedly, lighting up like the warp core beside you. "Tha's it!" He suddenly grabbed your hip in one hand and your hand in the other. He started singing the same thing loudly, mumbling the lyrics he didn't know. He snag you around swiftly and moved in time with you, before spinning you around in a pirouette. He caught you and dipped you down so you were almost touching the floor, still mumbling Bella Notte. You giggled as he pulled you back to your original standing position. "Sorry got a wee bit carried away there." He laughed. "No not at all, it's been a while since I've danced with anyone," you laughed, trying to hide your slight disappointment that your cute little experience was over. He grinned, "We should do this more, I really like hangin' with ya lassie." You wanted to tell him how much you loved being with him, how much you wanted to dance again, how much you wanted to kiss him, but all you said was "Me too Scotty." He smiled, "I uh better get back to um whateva' I was doin'" You nodded and he left awkwardly. You sighed, as wonderful as it was it just made you want more. You picked up a few tool and just lost all motivation to do anything, you just wanted to be with him.
There was a tap at your shoulder, interrupting your sad train of thought. You spun around, only to run straight back into him. You grinned, "Hey you." He smiled, "I have work but I woul' rather dance again." You lit up, "you do?" He nodded and took your hand, dancing slower this time. You looked up at him and he smiled, the kind of smile he only gave to the Enterprise itself. With his every step you swayed softly back and forth. Your eyes met his, and flickered away nervously but returned to his gaze. He gave you the perfect half smile and leaned in slowly towards. What happened next shocked you, your lips met his, but it was so much more than just lips meeting. It was every smile, every feeling and every emotion you had for him rolled into one. Your eyes slowly opened and he smiled at you. "So much better than fixing the warp core..." he muttered.
