Chapter 10: 18 on to 19

Far from gone

Percy POV

X stood beside me with a smile. I Felt my heart skip a beat when she caught me staring. We were standing before the door I was locked in for the last 19 years of my life.

I nervously glanced at her. I watched as she reached out to open the door. But I stopped her, by grabbing her hand.

"hold on." I said looked down at her. At one point. I used to look up at her. But know I looked down at her. I'm taller than her.

"I-I don't want to go outside without telling you something important." I took a deep breath, as I began to scratch the back of my head.

"I-I Like you." I mumbled out nervously. I tightened my hold on her hand. Not willing to let go. Not yet at least.

She was silent. I moved my gaze from our hands, and looked into her eyes. She was biting her lower lip. Something I love about her. It meant she was thinking.

"X will you be my..." I stopped myself. She only stared at me.

"Girlfriend?" She finished for me. I looked down at her lips. Only to see a small smile. I let out a deep breath and nodded.

"yes, my girlfriend." I said holding her hand a bit tighter.

"Of course." She answered giving my hand a squeeze in return. Something inside of me felt lighter. I laughed softly, as I closed my eyes. Pressing my forehead against hers.

"Thank god." I mumbled. I opened my eyes to see her close.

"We have to go Percy. Today you fight for what I've been training you for." She said opening her beautiful red and black eyes to look at me.

"Let's go now." I said turning my head to stare at the invisible door.

"Put on your cloak Percy." She said handing me a black cloak. Just like hers. I thankfully took it and put it on. Giving he a small peck on the lips. She smiled a little before putting on her mask. Blocking her beautiful face from my view. She reached behind my head and pulled on my hood.

"Let's go my prince." She said playfully. But her playfulness disappeared the moment the door opened with the sound of rusty chains. I looked at the familiar hall before me. She stiffened beside me. As is waiting for the worst.

X pulled me through me through the halls. Until we came to the exit. Where I was sure everyone was gathered. Waiting to see me after all these years. Melinda let go of my hand as she pushed the doors opened.

"Prince Novice." A loud voice screamed through a microphone thing. A bright light hit my eyes as the doors opened fully. My eyes quickly adjusted.

I looked around to see many people. I stood up straighter. Just like X has shown me. I can't let her teachings go to waste.

"Prince Novice will fight for the position as both prince and as commander of the army. Going against 100 opponents by himself. Can he do it? Has the training X put him through enough?"

I looked around only to see X walk away from me. She was walking before me. People cleared a path, as they avoided all eye contact. So, this is why she is so stiff. She doesn't like the way people fear her?

As we walked I noticed a huge Arena. People began to enter through another entrance, but Melinda lead to the back side. Her stiff posture dropped as we walked into a small empty room.
