Chapter 5: Far from Gone

Percy's POV

"What's that baby?" I slightly cringe inwardly, as Emily called me such thing. It didn't feel right. At all.

"It's a note I made." I lied moving it away from her view. She frowned, but her lips then turned into a pout.

"Please let me see?" She asked pressing her chest against mine. I shook my head. This girl's trying too much. Why does she care?

"Sorry, but no. It's something private." I folded the note and put it in my back pocket.

"Have you chosen your books?" I asked glancing down to see her with a bunch of romance books. This should change the subject. Her frown disappeared, and was soon replaced with wide smile.

"Oh yea. I choose these books." She showed me each book and explained yo me what they could be about, and how eager she was to read them. As she talked my mind went blank. Soon my ADHD acted up as I began to tap my foot impatiently.

"Okay, that's nice. Let's go pay." I said pointing to the cash register. Emily smiled, but it didn't quite reach her eyes.

"Yeah. Let's go." She said walking towards the cash register. I sighed, and quickly walked behind her. She placed the books down as I looked over her shoulder. She quickly tensed up, as she looked up at me.

"How did you get behind me so fast?" She asked. I glanced back to see I made quite a far walk to be so close now.

"No idea." I muttered taking out some cash, as the man scanned the books, as he glanced at us breifly.

"That be $84.34" He said looking at the books Emily chose. Her eyes widen like dinner plates at the amount. Not really a lot to be truthful. I handed him the one-hundred-dollar bill. He rose it up high to see if it was real before opening the cash-register.

"Here's your change. I hope you enjoy those books. Their amazing." He directed the smile towards Emily who smiled in return. He turned to look behind me, as both Emily and I moved out the way. His gaze showed fear for few seconds before he planted a fake smile.

"Hi welcome to- "

"Just scan." I glanced at the girl who stood there. She glanced at me from the side. A cold smirk on her lips.

"I'm in a rush. Please hurry." Her bright red eyes bore into the man's chocolate brown eyes.

"Let's go Percy." Emily said glaring at the Emma. Emily took my hand in her and tried to pull me out the store.

"I don't see why people wear colored contacts." Emily muttered. The man at the cash register quickly scanned Emma's book. She hands him money and told him to keep the rest. Something he was obviously shocked because she gave him a fifty.

"My eye color is very much real. Unlike your hair." Emma said looking blankly at Emily from under her bangs. Emma was obviously a closed book. I could not read a single thing in her movements, much less expressions. I don't know if she's angry, amused or hurt. She looks to calm for those, but who knows.

Emily snorted as she rolled her eyes.

"I've never meet someone with natural red eyes. I don't believe there's such thing. If so, it means you're a freak." Emma clearly didn't like that. Her eye grew a darker red. Almost crimson. Like blood. I won't lie. She looked very beautiful with her eyes dark red, and I had a sudden urge to defend Emma from Emily. That's it I'm losing my mind.

"Emily stop." I warned. She looked at me like as if I were mental. I probably am. But I doubt it. For now.

"Leave Emma alone. And let's go." I said coldly. I didn't like the way she was making fun of Emma, who was the same thing as me. Emma's glare turned towards me, which soften by a major percent.
