Early Or Too Late

Mer's pov
On our way back from our honeymoon weekend. I missed surgery and the kids. Alex I think he misses surgery too. We have always have been competitive with our surgical career. It has been that way since our start of the internship. As we turned the corner a truck came out of nowhere and slammed into the side of our car.

"Alex"! I scream as the truck slammed into us.
  
The car starts spinning in circles. Alex is trying to regain control. When he tries to grab the steering wheel locks. When we finally stop spinning and slammed into the side of the bridge. "Alex"! I scream. "Mer, are you okay" he asks frantically. "Yes, I'm okay. My head is killing me. I probably have a concussion, Alex" I tell him. Her words start to slur. "Mer"! "Wake up"! "
Please stay awake Mer"! He shouts. I tried to stay wake but my eyes shut anyway.

Alex's pov
A week after our wedding it's finally time to go back to Seattle. We pack our stuff and hop into a cab to drive us to the airport. After hours on the plane. Me and Mer get into our car and drive home.

    As we are driving. It starts to pour. The rain pounded on the wind shield. It was hard to see. I was concentrating on the road but I didn't see a truck collide into 5 cars. Before I could stop the truck slammed into our car. The car started spinning uncontrollably.

"Alex"! Mer's screams as we hit the bridge.

My head hits the steering wheel and back up to the head of the seat. "Alex"! Mer screams again. "Mer, are you okay"! I shout at her to see if she's alive. "Yes, I'm okay. My head is killing me. I probably have a concussion, Alex" she tells me. Her words start to slur. "Mer"! "Wake up"! "Please stay awake Mer"! I shout. She closes her eyes. "No Mer please don't do this I need you, the kids need you. Please Mer wake up" I yell with tears running down my face. I unbuckle my seat belt and look for my phone. I grab it and call 911.

   "Hello this is 911 what's your emergency"? the operator tells me. "Hello this is Alexander Karev, my wife and I were driving when a truck slammed into us" I tell them. "Okay please stay calm, Alexander. Do you know where you are? She asks me. " No  not exactly could you take us to Grey Sloan memorial hospital" I tell her before I shut my eyes.
Bailey's pov
I get a page to come to the pit. "We have a 37 female unconscious. She coded 5 times" the paramedic tells us. She pulls out the crash victim. "Meredith Karev, oh my god. "That's Meredith" I shout. I couldn't believe it. The rain was bad. I forgot they were coming back today.

     "What do we have here" webber says behind me. Before I could answer. "Meredith" he says shocked. She starts coding for the sixth time. "Change to 200" I shout. Still nothing. "Charge again" I shout. We charged again. "Sinus rhythm"!Jackson yells. "Meredith you need to stop doing this think of your kids" I tell her trying not to cry.

    Ben had to pull outside Meredith room to help me stop from hyperventilating. I bursted into tears. "B-e-n, M-e-r-e-d-I-t-h is like a c-h-i-l-d of mine, I can't lose her. I already lost so many of my babies. Oh and Alex will be crushed again" I explained to Ben as tears were running down my cheeks.

April's pov
I just put Harriet down for a nap when I heard my pager go off. My mom was visiting luckily. I get into my car and race to the E.R. When I get there.

"What do we got"? I ask the paramedic.

" Alexander Karev 37 old male. Bruising on the chest,  leg fracture, bleeding in the abdomen. Mild concussion" The paramedic told me.

"Okay get him to the O.R right away"! I told my intern.

   They were just getting back from their honeymoon. How could this be happening. On the way to O.R, I see Meredith she started coding.
