Mer's pov
After Alex apologized. It was time for us to get the kids up. I walk down to the girls room. Zola and Ellis share a room.

"Girls time to get up"! I shout. "Coming mom"! Zola and Ellis both shouted back.  "Alex is Bailey ready yet"! I ask. "He is refusing to get dressed". "Can you help me, Mer"? Alex's asks. "Alex , yes I can help" I yell back.

After I get Bailey ready too. Alex got them breakfast made. "Pancakes"! Liam squealed excitedly. I just laugh at his cute squeal. Alex rolls his eyes at my laugh. "Oh don't pretend you didn't think that was adorable"! I fake yell at Alex. "Where did my Meredith go. You know the dark and twisty one"? Alex asks in a joking way. "That Meredith is in my past, I'm happy Meredith now"! He just rolls his eyes again. I roll my eyes too back at him.

"Mommy" I hear Liam say in his cute little toddler voice. "Yes Liam" I answered back. "Can daddy dress me today" Liam asks. "Alex why isn't Liam dressed yet" I snap. "Mer I had to get breakfast made. You didn't say anything about him". Alex answered back. "Okay, well can you get him dressed now" I ask. "Yes" Alex says as he picks Liam off the ground, carries him to  Bailey and Liam's room.

" Zola, Bailey, Ellis are you guys ready to go school" I ask.

"Yes mommy" Zola and Ellis giggle.

"No!" Bailey screams.

"Why not bal" I ask.

"Because I miss daddy", Bailey yells and then his face turned into a pout.

I didn't expect him to say that. Derek was his father. He didn't really get to know him. His passed away when he was only 2.

"Bal, I'm sorry but your daddy is not here anymore". I squat down to his height.

Bailey starts to cry. This really breaks my heart to see my kids in pain. I don't really know what's it like to lose a parent at a young age. I mean my father left when I was six and my mother wasn't a good mother at all. I raised myself for all those years. She was always at work.

After Alex is done getting Liam ready. He returns to the kitchen. "Bal, what's wrong"? Alex asks. "I miss my daddy" Bal gets a few words out before he goes mute again. Alex's face softened.

"Hey bud, your dad was a great man. A wonderful father to you. He loved you more than anything. He wouldn't want to cry. Yes he misses you very much and wishes he could be there to see you start 3rd grade. He would want to turn that frown upside down into a smile. Enjoy your day at school", Alex explains.

"Okay, Alex, I will go to school to make my dad happy of me" Bal says as he grabs his backpack from our closet. I smile at Alex and he smiles back. I mouth thanks you. Alex mouths your welcome back.
