Quick A/N: Please don't correct me. This may sound very rude and extremely self centered, but when I get comments from people correcting a capitalization error it kinda pisses me off. As a writer I need feedback so I'm always reading every comment, but recently all I've been getting is people correcting my grammar. (spelling, capitalization, punctuation, etc..) I write everything on my phone, and 9/10 times my phone corrects something without my knowledge, and because I wrote the story with the words I intended to use, I don't see the mistakes/'corrections' my phone had made. Sorry for wasting your time and sounding stuck up, but alas, this need to be said. Now, onto the story!

(I didn't notice until I went back to edit some words, that I wrote the entire thing in first person! Hopefully this doesn't bother anyone, I promise the next one won't be anything like that!)

As a child I would always remember the words from the other kids on the playground.
"Why can't you hear me?"
Ever since childhood up to adulthood, I've always explained it the same way. Imagine plugging in your headphones to your music player to only turn them on to hear nothing. That's what sound has been to me for my whole life. Like I was cut the bad deal at the store, and got the broken headphones.
In a way, you could say it's a gift. A Talent. Not many would thing of it that way, but I've gotten really good at reading facial expressions and lips, to the point where some wouldn't even know I was deaf if I didn't tell them.
Still, it's a handicap, and with the handicap comes the pain. The bullying, teasing, the pitying looks I would get. Even my own parents would sometimes crack a joke about a major ailment of mine and play it off as though it was nothing.
But that's where I developed a guiding hand, my own personal guardian angel in the form of a precious friend.
As a child, my parents were always the type to throw parties, but those calmed down to simply having friends over after my diagnoses that one late night. The people who were 'friends' with my parents stopped showing up one day, and it was left down to two families that would join us for dinner once a week.
A family by the last name of Nanami, and the other by Hinata. The Nanami family held a small girl named Chiaki, who would always bring a new video game every time and teach me the basics. The Hinata family held two twin boys, although you wouldn't be able to tell they were twins without knowing the fact before hand. The boys simply looked nothing like the other.
Hajime and Izuru Hinata were my dearest playmates. Hajime wasn't much of anything special, he was a normal boy who had normal grades. Izuru on the other hand was very talented, he was able to grasp anything presented to him easily and learn it fully with little to no difficulty. Izuru was truly special, but special people don't get to continue on without a handicap.
Izuru though of most things boring as we grew up, around middle school was when he finally lost interest in everything because to him, he has seen it all. It was something that always seemed to make me tear up at the thought of him getting so bored with life, that he might not want to continue through it anymore.
Izuru and I had opted to have the same classes together, because he was there to assist me through things I couldn't 'do', even though I could do them. Simply put, we always lied and made it sound like it was harder for me to function as a deaf person without Izuru around to assist me. My parents of course didn't mind, they had no problem with the two of us sticking to one another, they preferred it that way.
For some reason, our middle school seemed to have deemed being deaf as a reason not to have to participate in sports, which I wasn't going to complain about. Sitting out on the sidelines gave me many chances to think, think back on my childhood, what it would be like to hear, what it would be like to hear Izuru say that something was boring. Childhood memories would always flow into my head, making me crack a smile and look like a crazy person to anyone who would shoot a glance.
