Chapter 13- Zillah

After the food was finished, and Edward and I explained our story, and then the chief's children led us around. Watercress and Windstar led Edward off, much to my dislike, and Earthstar, Firecry and I sat and talked. I found they knew English fairly well. Earthstar asked of my family, and life in Port Royal, and I asked of his life and family here. I found that they had named the island Ilpas, dreams, in their language, and that it was the Allia Tribe, one that had fled their home to escape settlers, and an erupting volcano. Firecry was eager to explain his life, and as he talked, I thought of my home, or I thought of him. He had fire red hair, and odd orange, yellow eyes. He wore a red tunic with plain white shorts. He was very different from his quiet brother. Earthstar had sandy, dirt colored hair, and mud brown eyes. He wore a dirt covered white tunic and plain brown shorts, like his father. I could easily tell where their names came from. Earthstar was 13, and was the youngest of his family, Windstar being born first of the twins. Firecry was 24, and I wondered how close his age was to that of Edward's.

"Zillah, are you okay?"Earthstar asked, wiping a tear away from my face. I felt touched by his action.

"What?"I asked, coming out of my daydream.

"You were silent, and then you began to cry."Firecry explained. Ironic, my tears burned.

"I was just thinking about my family at home."I replied.

"Why don't you just go back and see them?"Earthstar asked.

"I was convicted of being a pirate. Edward saved me from dying, and if I go back home, I would be killed."I answered sadly.

"You don't seem like a pirate."Firecry observed.

"I'm not. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time."I answered.

"I'm sorry."Earthstar mumbled.

"Zillah, do you know cures for sickness?"Firecry asked always the bolder of the chief's sons.

"I know a few."I answered, "Why?"
