AN: Remember, Edward's ship, Nan's Jewel has been renamed Spirit. In case I didn't make it that clear.
Chapter 53- Edward
It was hard to stand on the deck of Spirit and tell Vienna of the swordfight between Aaron and me. I knew I had to do it, and hoped Zillah would be there to help. Luckily she was. I began with explaining the charges, and why exactly Aaron was after us. The hard part was explaining the end of the sword fight.
"I was distracted by Zillah, and while I was distracted, Aaron took the advantage and charged me. By the time I saw, it was too late, and I felt the sword. Only it didn't go into me, and I felt no pain. Somehow I was on the deck of the ship, but I figured the force of the sword going into me had caused me to fall. I looked down and didn't see a sword, or even a wound for that matter."I explained.
"I looked around to see that my ex wife, Ash had fallen to the deck of the ship, Aaron's sword protruding from her stomach. I quickly pieced together what had happened, and with confirmation from my wife, found that just as Aaron was about to kill me, Ash stepped in and saved my life. That one good deed cost her, her life, but she will live on a hero."Even though I didn't love Ash, she was a great friend, and I'm glad that she died heroically.
"She was given a hero, and a sailor's honor burial at sea."Zillah added.
"What about you? What happened to your arm?"A villager called out.
"When Ash pushed me out of the way I wasn't expecting it and had no time to prepare. My sword fell first, and I crashed into it, luckily only damaging my arm."I explained, wincing with pain from my arm.
"Will it heal?"Someone else asked.
"It should, it was only really a cut, just a very, uh, deep one."I replied.
There were murmurings as the crowd dispersed, and Johnny and the crew helped Zillah and I unload the bags. Once the crowd was gone I caught sight of my parents' carriage, and then the severely worried face of my mother.
"EDWARD!"She shrieked. "Why didn't you just explain to us about Zillah?"
"It was kind of hard."I said, pulling Zillah to my side.
"Come son, you are going to need to have a doctor look at that."My father said.
"I know, but can we please go home first. I believe Zillah and Rebeka are very tired."I said.
"Rebeka?"Both my parents asked simultaneously.
"Zillah and my child."I answered.
"Oh, isn't she such a beauty!"Mother cried.
"Abigail, Edward is right; Lady Zillah and Rebeka need sleep."Father said.
"Of course darling."Mother agreed.
"Abigail, you take the carriage with Zillah and Rebeka on home. I'll take Edward to the doctor."Father suggested.
"Are you sure?"Mother asked.
"Yeah, it would be wise to have his arm looked at sooner rather than later."Father said.
"I'll see you soon Zillah."I said, kissing her brow.
"Don't trip again."She warned, but her laugh ruined her seriousness.
"I'll try, watch Rebeka."I said chuckling to myself as Father led me along the road to the doctor's house.
The doctor wasn't surprised when Father and I knocked on his door.
"Ah Edward, I had a feeling your father would make you stop by!"Dr. Alex said.
"Is it bad?"Father asked. I had the father that was emotional and showed it, and the mother who guarded her feelings closely.
"Nah, just keep it clean, covered, and supported."Dr. Alex replied.
"Thank you doctor."I said, shaking his hand.
"Anything for Lord Stephen!"Dr. Alex laughed.
"Thank you doctor and we'll be seeing you soon."Father laughed, giving me a knowing smile.
