1 year and a half later.

In a few months Killian will be turning 18 and it kills me to know that he will be leaving me. I'm 15 and I don't want to part from him. We have gone through so much; it just pains me that he still hasn't told me who he lost back in his younger days that turned him like that. I'm still waiting for that day.

Our beloved Mrs. Potts let's the youth go out as long as someone who is almost 18 goes out with us so luckily Killian is almost 18, him and I go to get the groceries. She has to do this, letting the youth go and do errands since part of her staff quit so we've been able to go and explore what's outside these walls.

Killian and I are in charge of bringing all the canned goods while everyone else goes to get bread, cheese, etc. Once we grabbed all the stuff we needed we made our way back. In all honesty we could run away but it would complicate things for us. Anyways, we get to an intersection, and we look both ways and it was clear. Killian stops to tie his shoe. "Emma wait for me." I start to walk and he chuckles, "fine don't wait for me but please don't stand in the middle of the intersection."

"Oh come on there isn't anyone around," I say and I stood in the middle of the street. That's when Killian screams," Emma, move out of the way!" I turn back to him, "what?" and in a blink of an eye I see the car and that's when Killian pushes me out of the way and we both fell to the snowy ground. I'm laying on the floor scared.

"What did I tell you Emma, you almost died right now, my gosh, you never listen to me." He got up and started to kick the snow. "I'm sorry," I said as I sat up. "I don't want to lose you too Emma." I sigh. "Like the person you lost when you were younger?" He sighs. "Is it because of that which makes you become all overprotective and violent over someone you cherish."

He nods, "ok sit down, I think it's time we talk." He sits down next to me and tries to get back up. "No, let's go back," he says and I pull his arm "No sir, I've been waiting since I was 10 for you to tell me so we ain't going anywhere." He sighs and smiles. "Well when I was 10 my father had abandoned my pregnant mother who was carrying my little sister and me." I gasp. "Yea." He sighs. "Well we had no other family and one night we were walking home from the grocery store, sort of like how we were right now." I nod.

"Anyways, we were crossing the road and a person driving like a maniac comes swerving down the icy road and we heard the car hit the brakes but it didn't slow down, I remember dropping the grocery bags I tried to push my mother out of the way but she had already grabbed on to my arm and threw me out of the way and when I look back the car hits her and she hit the floor." I gasp.

"When I went back to check on her, she had cracked open her skull and I saw blood on the icy road. I tried to wake her up but she never opened her eyes, she died that instant. I screamed and nothing, no one came to help me. So I sat on the cold street and held my dead mother and sister in my arms. 4 hours passed by and all I could think about was that fact that I didn't do anything to prevent my mother from being killed." Tears began to fill in my eyes

"Finally, the police and paramedics came and took my mother away and I was sent here and I never heard from her again." I grabbed his hands. "I don't know what they did with her body, I was 10, I was powerless, I couldn't do anything Emma, I had no one and I just wanted my mother and I was so excited to be a big brother and that man just came and destroyed my life," he said and he started to cry.

I quickly hugged him. My heart is breaking, that is the worst, he saw his mother die in front of his own eyes and to think that being abandoned was harsh but this, this is horrible. He looked up and tried to wipe his tears, "you're the first person I've told this to." I raise my hand up and half smile, "your story is safe with me." He smiles and I hug him again.

"I'm sorry I promise I will be less of a klutz and I promise you that from this day on, you will never be alone." He grabs my hands and smiles. "Just like the promise we made to each other when we were younger which was that we will be best friends forever." I smile and nodded. We both got up and picked up all the stuff and went back to the orphanage.
