"Come with me?" Arin repeated, "Are you kidding me?"

"Pleeeeeeeeeassseee." Dan begged, "It'll be fun, and you're keeping me from it!"

"No! You're not only someone who gets drunk easy, but you're also super emotionally unstable right now, so I know if I take you to that party, someone will take advantage of you."

"I'm not weak, Arin. I can defend myself."

"Okay, but getting raped isn't a matter of if you're strong or weak! Being taken advantage of and used without consent is rape, and it can happen to anybody. It doesn't matter how strong they are."

"Arin, you know I didn't mean it like that." Dan said, "I mean that I doubt anything is going to happen. You'll stay by my side, right?"

"You don't even like parties."

"I like fun."

"No, you like fun when it distracts you from your problems." Arin said with a fake smile, patting Dan on the shoulder and beginning to leave.

"Ariiiiiiiiiiinnnnnn." Dan whined, grabbing his sleeve, "Please don't go without me. I swear I won't go crazy, or go away from you. And I won't even mention Phil and start crying. And I won't start talking to people either so they can take advantage of me. I promise!"

"Phil wouldn't like you going out this late, Dan. You have a test to-" Then Arin narrowed his eyes. "Wait a minute. That's exactly why you want to go, isn't it?"

Dan blushed. "N-no."

"That's exactly it!" Arin exclaimed, "You know Phil hates it when you blow of your studies. And he doesnt like you going to parties without him there. You're hoping to take a picture or something to make him angry, aren't you?"

"Uhhhhhhh...."

"Wow, Dan. Wow."

"Okay, just one hour. One hour, is all I need, and you'll see that I can control myself. And yes, I will take a picture but it'll be fine."

Arin sighed. "Promise you won't talk to strangers?"

Arin held out his pinky.

"Only the cute ones." Dan replied.

Arin narrowed his eyes and Dan giggled and connected their pinkies with a smile. "Promise."

"Hey, Arin! Who's your friend?"

Arin turned around and addressed his friend, Sean, with a smile. "Oh he's just my doormate, Dan."

"I don't think I've seen him around before. Nice to meet you, Dan." Sean greeted, holding out his hand.

"I like your hair." Dan said, "It's so cool."

And then being the child he was, reached out and touched it, but Sean only laughed, "Thank you! It's green like my mother country! Ireland."

"Is Ireland soft too?"

Sean laughed again, "Yes, because it's always raining so the ground is squishy."

Dan pulled back with a smile. He liked this boy. He seemed very nice, but Arin said all his friends here were douchebags.

"Alright, we'll be seeing you, Sean." Arin said, and Dan knew that was his cue to stop talking to him.

"Bye, Arin, bye, Dan. REMEMBER TO HAVE FUUUUN! WOOH!"

"It's nice to meet you, Sean!" Dan called, and Sean waved as Arin took him further into the party.

"I liked him." Dan said, "He didn't seem douchebaggy at all."
