The drive to Troye's was short. He only lived about ten minutes away, and he still had classes and lunch with Dan so it wasn't like they hadn't talked in forever. Though it was true that they only shared one class, and Troye started spending lunch break with Tyler.
When he heard the news, he freaked out. Both Tyler and him were happy to take Dan in. They were like worried mothers.
Once Dan and Phil were outside the apartment, with everything Dan would need until he requested to switch dorms, Phil stopped Dan.
"Hey...are you gonna be okay? Are you sure you don't just want to skip for a while?"
Dan shook his head. "They'll kick me out. I'll be fine, I'll just sit away from him and I'm sure my new dorm partner will be nice."
"I want you to go request a new dorm partner first thing tomorrow, alright?" Phil said, and Dan nodded.
They knocked on the door, and almost immediately they got attacked by Troye. "DAN ARE YOU OKAY DID HE HURT YOU CAN YOU BREATHE DO YOU WANT PHIL TO STAY I LOVE YOU IM SO SORRY I WASNT THERE!"
Dan smiled weakly. "Hello, Troye. And no, I'm fine. Phil helped a lot. He won't be bothering me anymore."
"I cannot believe that fucking dick did that." Troye said and suddenly Tyler came up.
"AH MY BABES!" He said, hugging Phil and then Dan, looking worried. "Dan I...are you okay?"
"Yeah, we're fine." Dan said, feeling kind of isolated. He loved them but he wasn't in the mood to talk about it.
Arin had been one of the best people he had in his life at the time and in only a day everything changed.
"How long will you be staying?" Troye asked, "You can move in if you want, honestly anything to keep you away from him. Tyler and I leave for spring break in a month but-"
"Troye that's very sweet of you to offer but I'll have a new dorm partner in probably two or three days. I can't just let this change everything. I'm still going to college I just...won't have him around me."
Tyler frowned. "But don't you want to be further away from him? It's kind a big deal, he could do it again-"
"He won't." Dan said, and this time they could tell by his tone that Dan really didn't want to talk about it.
Phil rubbed his hand that was rested on his lower back to soothe him. He was worried too, but part of him knew Arin wouldn't do it again either. "Come on, let's get your stuff in." Phil said, ushering Dan who was carrying the last box into the apartment.
Tyler and Troye both shared a look.

Two days of awkwardness followed as Dan avoided everyone in school. He sat in a different place at his lectures to get away from him, and lunch out with Troye, and was even driven back and forth from his house by Troye.
Everything was different and everyone treated him like a queen, but he felt empty.
When he was told where his new dorm was, he was relived to see it was the boy's one closer to his first class and not the same building Arin stayed in. It was all he way across campus. Maybe the school did that on purpose, he didn't know. After explaining the situation with a bit of a filter, he was very much allowed to change, and they put him with a boy who didn't have a dorm mate at all. Dan assumed his either dropped out, or there was just a mix up.
All he knew was where the dorm was, but he had no idea who it was going to be. He had only brought the clothes that weren't at Troye's, and he would have Phil help him bring the other stuff the next evening. He knocked on the new door, thinking it'd be rude to just walk in with the key if his dorm partner was there.
