The iron doors slammed much quicker then they had opened, it seemed the place around them was a Colosseum or an arena type venue. Walls surrounded the entire Forest all clad in a metal with a color deeper then iron, almost a jet black.
A loud rumbling, much like the noise of snoring came from the heart of the forest.
"It seems our path is already set for us?" Gabriel looked towards the heart of the forest, although the mist was so thick it was difficult to the heart.
"Were is Felix anyways?" Shadow inquired.
The thought struck them all, leaving each and every one of the party dumfounded as to were he was at.
"I dunno, but we can do this without him." Gabriel replied.
They took two steps, and the roots of the trees around them shot up from the ground grasped ahold of their legs and threw them into the wall lining the forest, they smashed hard into it and fell to the ground.
"ow.." Gabriel sat up and forced himself to regain his breath.
Shadow sat up and looked at the whiping tree roots that lined the path fourty feet in one direction, "hmm.." he mumbled with the little bit of oxygen he had retained from the smash.
Saria was already up and moving, she tried to cut the roots swiftly but they just cast her aside almost as if she were nothing.
"Damn things.." She cursed aloud, in clear rage.
"Lets stay away from them then." Gabriel stood up and started walking around the trees, it seemed that the mist was thickest there though. They moved forward quickly, efficiently like a strike squadren making a stealth mission attempt in a crouded city, avoiding all of the roots that even in the mist managed to shred the ground and strike straight up in an attempt to impale the party.
They managed to dodge all but two, one that smashed into Sarias thigh and the other stabbed Gabriels right arm, ripping downwards it cast him to the dirt.
He wasn't staggered for long, he got up and ran at full pelt to catch up to Shadow and Saria who hadn't noticed the incident. They rushed towards the heart of the forest, a wall of oak trees surrounded the heart, they ventured around it a near half an hour walk. But, at the entrance of the heart of the forest, a thicket patch intwined to form a gate, thick briars with massive green tipped thorns, ominous.
They approached the thicket gate nonetheless, when they did a shroud of mist formed into the shape of a cacoon, Shadow and Gabriel jumped back next to Saria who for some reason was behind them.
From the cacoon of mist, emerged a beast warped and horrifieng, completely corrupt. Tendrils, lined it's back as well as it's side, its one arm a tentical the other a blade, it's face scarred from the thousands of battles it must have been through half a smile half a frown.
"urghh" a retching sound came from within the beasts throat.
"What the hell is this?" Gabriel looked at it with great discust.
"I am, the guardian of the mist, long lost and warped, if you wish to pass you must.. Urggg.."
"Face me in battle.." It's voice, was just as distorted as it's body.
Shadow and Gabriel ran around for a pincer attack, the beast's tendrils that lined the lower half of it's back dug into the ground and shot out towards Shadow and Gabriel, they cut them as they ran past. Saria, on the other hand ran and jumped high into the air to plung down atop the warped creature, however the creatures upper tendril covered half shot forward to her and impaled her shoulders, while they were within her they lobbed her into a tree. WIth a hard crash, she smashed through a tree. Gabriel noticed this and instantly entered a state of blind rage, he cut the creatures leg that vanished into a haze and Shadow swung at the beast swiftly making an attempt to dice the beasts arm into pieces. Yet, every cut he intended was stopped by the creatures bladed arm, "urgg.." The creature retched again.
