They were all suited and ready to retrieve Matt, Shiro, and Mr. Holt. They just had to wait for Allura to wormhole to the planet., which gave them time to think about Shiro. Of course, Matt and Mr. Holt too, but mainly their leader.
After Shiro went missing, no one could bring themselves to have another fly the black lion, not that they needed someone to. Even if they hadn't defeated Zarkon that day, they wouldn't have let the lion choose a new rider. They were already bonded and fitted with their own lions— no sense in leaving their lion for Shiro's.
It would be like leaving your best friend when a cooler one opened up. It would also be like the beginning when they first received their own lions—the need on bonding, trying to get used to the new lion, and forming Voltron. The experience would be very different from what they had with their own lion...
It was Hunk who broke the silence in the dinner hall. "Breakfast, everyone!" With his sudden appearance with food, the group began to talk. Pidge hadn't realized how bad she wanted this again. To talk to them and to eat Altean breakfast in this very hall. She didn't realize how much they needed to talk.
Over the year, it seemed everyone had their own story. Keith had stayed with Lance and his family over the whole year, and they have gotten a lot friendlier and closer with each other because of it. Lance complained about Keith's misdoings and presence at his house, but then went on to list some fun times they had together. Lance had a pretty big family and it helped to have Keith there to cook and help out. Lance's younger siblings apparently took a liking to the emo too. Though Keith seemed more outgoing now. She shouldn't call him emo anymore. Maybe being with so many people and Lance for a year helped him open a little.
Hunk also stayed with his family the past year. He talked about a vacation they took during the summer and how he got a major sunburn. He talked about all the new recipes he formed on earth. He even talked about each member of his family and their favorite food.
Before they knew it, Allura had jumped through a wormhole and announced their descent. Once again, Pidge felt very bubbly and excited to see her folks and Shiro again. What had happened? Why where they there? Why did Shiro disappear? Questions circled around in her brain.
Keith snapped her out of her trance and told her to get into her lion.
Her lion, something she hasn't seen in a year. New enthrallment rushed over her as she raced towards her lion. Would she be able to still pilot it? Would it recognize her? She silenced her questions when she entered the chamber with her lion inside. There it sat, untouched and as majestic as ever.
She climbed into and said, "hello girl, I'm back." It bolted to life and greeted Pidge back. Oh, how she missed the green lion.
It wasn't a long wait till Allura told the four paladins to head down to the planet. When Pidge flew out into the open, a vast dead surface laid out below her. Cracks and canyons decorated the red ground, reminded her of mars, but way worse.
Along the ground were silver structures that probably housed the residents. Zarkon wouldn't have thought to look on a dead planet that he previously destroyed.
Katie remembered that even if they had defeated Zarkon, Galra still did exist, and when leaders fall, new ones arise. No telling who took Zarkon's place.
"Approach slowly, Paladins. This planets usage is unknown. We don't know who or what is down there. Be careful," Allura warned through the communicator.
"Pidge will make her lion invisible and check the place out. If she gives an okay, we'll head down ourselves. If we don't hear her after a while, Hunk, Keith, and Lance will go down there and see what happened. Okay go!" Coran explained, playing with his mustache.
Pidge entered stealth mode and made her lion quietly land on the surface. She was excited to see Shiro and her family again, but she couldn't go running in there like an idiot, or like Lance would've if he was trying to save an alien girl.
She hid behind a barrel next to one of the metal buildings. That's when she saw him. Takashi Shirogane. He was chained to others as he carried a barrel like the one she hid behind with his normal arm, the heavy barrel propped by his shoulder. Behind him was another prisoner, followed by five more, each carrying a crate or barrel. Then familiar hair, similar shade to her own, was at the end of the line of prisoners.
She'd also spotted her brother.
Yay another chapter! Sorry if you find anything confusing. ;;;; I worked on the past few chapters (and probably more to come) at once during the night. If this computer wasn't catching my spelling errors, this book would've been hard to understand!~ I honestly have no idea where I am going with this book ;;;;
Now, looking back on this three years later, it is a bit rushed. Sorry for that.ThatOneServant out!
