Eventually Dalton left for his next class too.

He had Modified Geography with Jess, ironically.

As he was walking to Geography he suddenly starts feeling bad and a bit sad about himself and what he's done.

As he entered the class he took a seat right next to Jess.

"Hey, Jess", he said shyly trying to start a conversation.

"Hi, Dalton." Jess responded dimly, trying her best to seem completely neutral.

"Hey, listen Jess, I really need to talk to you." Dalton pleaded to her, looking straight at the board in class to make sure they weren't caught talking.

"Why," stated Jess blandly, hinting at slight uninterest and anger.

"Because I want to say something to you. It's really important!" Dalton replied with a weak voice.

"If it's about Cole, save it because I not gonna let you know anything," Jess said suspiciously.

"Believe me that ship sailed! I want to talk to you." Dalton explain to Jess, emphasizing "you".

"Fine, I'll give you 5 minutes after class but that's it." Jess sternly exhaled.

"Oh, thank you," said Dalton. Time zoomed by and the bell rang for the end of class.

"Okay, what'd a want Rapattoni?" Jess asked unamused by this entire confrontation.

"I want to say that I'm sorry." Dalton said meekly, looking at his feet as he spoke.

"Excuse me," Jess inquired losing her informal tone, narrowing her eyes.

"I said I'm sorry. I'm sorry for all the times I made fun of you or treated you unfairly. In fact I was being such a hypocrite; I've actually watched and enjoy anime and manga for a while. Well, I still watch it on the weekends. I want to say I'm sorry for always trying to prove myself better than you because in truth I'm not. If anything, I wish I could be as kind an fun-loving and spunky as you. I don't thing that I had any reason to ever make fun of you and in fact I actually would love to have a friend like you but that ship already sailed so the least I could was make sure you don't hate me," Dalton finished not recognizing that he had started tearing up.

He just now realized that Jess wasn't the only one he had undermined; there was any entire school of kids that he had treated like this.

"Are you just saying this so I'll report this to Cole to "how sweet and kind" you are?" Jess uneasily replied.

"No, gosh, no! I'd kind of like if we keep this between us especially the part where I started crying." Dalton said wiping one single tear from his cheek.

"You're kidding, aren't you? You're actually apologizing to me?" Jess said, her voice filled with astonished doubt.

"I truly am sorry, Jess. I'd love to see if we could start over or find compromise and begin being friends?" Dalton pondered, his voice and posture sadly carried.

"Oh. Dalton, thanks and sure we can keep this between us." Jess responded with a glint of a smile peering on her face.

"Thanks, well I got to go, bye Jess. And remember our little secret." Dalton said as he walked off from Jess, slowly turning.

"Yeah," called Jess as he left.

She could believe that he did that. He was actually crying over what he did. She didn't want to say it but if felt good to see him tear up, he actually cared and he didn't just do it to get to Cole.

After that Jess' day just seemed a bit brighter.
